Jade Primordial Direhorn

Jade Primordial Direhorn is a rare ground and flying mount added in patch 5.5.0 of the Mists of Pandaria expansion. It is a massive jade-green direhorn with stone armor and spikes, resembling an ancient triceratops. The mount drops from the Zandalari Warbringer — a rare elite mob that patrols the coasts of Pandaria mounted on its own direhorn.

The Jade Primordial Direhorn is one of three color variants of the direhorn obtained from Zandalari Warbringers. The other two are the Reins of the Amber Primordial Direhorn and the Reins of the Slate Primordial Direhorn. Each variant is tied to a specific eye color of the warbringer.

• Rarity — the drop chance is about 5%, and the right color of warbringer appears at random. In practice, farming can take dozens of hours.
• Unique appearance — the jade-green coloring sets this direhorn apart from other mounts. The massive model with stone armor draws attention.
• Collector value — the mount is one of the trio of primordial direhorns from Pandaria. Collecting all three colors is a separate challenge for collectors.
• Available to all characters — the item is account-bound, so once learned the mount appears on all your characters.
• Multiple ways to obtain — besides the drop, the mount is periodically listed on the Black Market.

The main way to obtain it is by killing the Zandalari Warbringer with green eyes. The eye color determines which direhorn drops: green eyes — jade, yellow — amber, blue — slate.

1. Head to one of the five Pandaria zones where Zandalari Warbringers appear (coordinates listed below).
2. Find a warbringer with green eyes — it will be mounted on a jade direhorn.
3. Kill it and take the loot. The drop chance of the Reins of the Jade Primordial Direhorn is about 5%.
4. If the warbringer is a different color, wait for the next respawn or move between zones.
5. Use the obtained item to learn the mount.

Alternative methods

• Black Market — Mei Francis sometimes lists the mount on the Black Market Auction House with a starting bid of 20,000 gold. The final price is usually significantly higher

Zandalari Warbringers appear in five zones of Pandaria. In each zone there is one fixed spawn point. The respawn time ranges from 30 to 60 minutes.

Important: according to community reports, amber and jade colored warbringers do not appear in Krasarang Wilds. Keep this in mind when planning your farming route.

The Zandalari Warbringer is a rare elite mob of level 35. At the current maximum level it poses no challenge, but knowing its abilities will help you deal with it faster.

The warbringer uses four of five available abilities (the set is determined at spawn):

• Terrifying Visage — causes fear for 8 seconds. Cannot be interrupted, cooldown 7 seconds.
• Meteor Shower — fire damage over an area for 10 seconds. Move out of the affected zone.
• Scarab Swarm — summons 10 scarabs. Use area abilities for quick destruction.
• Thunderstomp — a cone attack in front of itself dealing heavy Nature damage. Do not stand in front of the warbringer.
• Vengeful Spirit — summons an allied spirit. Ignore it or destroy it quickly.

Warbringers are immune to crowd control and interrupts.

Route

Plan a flyover route covering all five spawn points. The optimal order:

1. The Jade Forest (52.7, 19.0)
2. Krasarang Wilds (39.0, 67.7) — jade does not appear here, but check in case of slate
3. Kun-Lai Summit (75.0, 67.0)
4. Townlong Steppes (36.7, 85.6)
5. Dread Wastes (47.3, 61.6)

After a full flyover, return to the first point. The cycle takes 5–10 minutes, which fits within the respawn window.

Search macros

Use a macro to quickly determine whether a warbringer is in the zone:

/tar Zandalari Warbringer

If the target is found, check the eye color of the direhorn the warbringer is riding. Green eyes — your chance at a jade direhorn.

Addons

• SilverDragon or NPCScan — automatically alert you to the appearance of rare mobs, including the Zandalari Warbringer
• TomTom — lets you set waypoints for all spawn locations
• HandyNotes — displays the locations of rare mobs directly on the map

Timing

Farm during off-peak hours — early morning or late at night. Competition for rare mobs in Pandaria is still high due to the popularity of the mounts. On low-population servers the chances of finding a warbringer are higher.
