Kharnalex, The First Light — Transmog Set Guide
Overview

Kharnalex, The First Light is a two-handed staff of epic quality that debuted in the Dragonflight expansion alongside that expansion's very first raid. The model is finished in soft gold and cream tones: the head resembles an opened bud with a warm inner glow, while the shaft itself is decorated with draconic motifs in the spirit of the dracthyr race. This weapon was conceived as a story reward for the Evoker class and carries a built-in ability that focuses the light of the dracthyr legacy onto a target.
The staff is considered an Evoker class item, so only that class can equip it as gear. For transmog, however, its value is primarily aesthetic: the clean, bright silhouette reads well in combat and stands out favorably against the dark, aggressive weapon models from the same period.
Source
The staff drops in the Vault of the Incarnates raid — the first raid of the Dragonflight expansion. The entrance to the instance sits in the Thaldraszus zone on the Dragon Isles, in the eastern part of the area behind the Tyrhold complex.
- The source is the raid's final boss, Broodkeeper Diurna.
- The staff drops from every raid difficulty on which loot is available.
- The drop chance is additionally increased if there are Evokers in the group, since it is a class item.
- An extra chance to obtain the staff comes from the weekly Great Vault chest for killing bosses in this raid.
The raid belongs to content from past expansions, so today it is cleared by a small group or even solo on a character at the current level. Broodkeeper Diurna is a fight with a large number of eggs and reinforcements, but with a significant power advantage, bosses of this age no longer pose a serious threat.
Who It Suits Visually
- Harmonizes with bright sets in gold and cream tones — the looks of Priests of the Light and holy Paladins.
- Complements kits with draconic and dracthyr themes from the Dragonflight expansion thanks to the motifs on the shaft.
- Looks striking in dark and shadowy outfits, working as a bright, glowing accent.
- Suits magical specializations for which a clean, calm weapon silhouette without spikes and skulls matters.
Tips
Remember that only an Evoker can wear the staff as gear — for other classes it is available solely for the appearance collection.
Enter the raid at a level above the requirement, and the path to the final boss takes only a few minutes.
Bring an Evoker character along or call a friend of that class — this increases the staff's drop chance.
If the staff did not drop during a run, log boss kills for the weekly Great Vault chest — that is a second source of the item.
Repeat your attempts every week: the loot lock on a boss in an old raid is removed with the weekly reset.
The staff's built-in ability deals Arcane damage to a target over several seconds — it is handy to factor in when posing for transmog screenshots.
