Kua'fon's Harness

Kua'fon's Harness is an epic mount added in the Battle for Azeroth expansion. It's a pterrordax that you literally raise from an egg, care for, teach to fly, and eventually turn into a loyal companion. The quest chain takes a minimum of 28–30 days of daily quests in Zuldazar.

Kua'fon is a pterrordax hatchling blessed by the loa Pa'ku. You find its egg, bring it to the nest on Pterrordax Bluff, and begin the long journey of raising it: from the first feeding to a triumphant flight. The quest chain is initially available only to Horde characters, but once obtained the mount can be used on both factions.

• A unique story — this isn't just "kill a boss and get a drop." You go through a full journey from egg to mount. Kua'fon grows, learns, falls, tries to fly again — and you're there every step of the way.
• A flying mount — after the upgrade in patch 8.2, Kua'fon becomes a full-fledged flying mount.
• Guaranteed acquisition — no RNG. Just complete the daily quests, and in a month the mount is yours.
• A pterrordax model — one of the few pterrordax mounts in the game. It looks striking and stands apart from standard mounts.
• Available to both factions — even though the quest chain is meant for the Horde, once learned the mount is available to all characters on the account.

• A Horde character (to complete the quest chain).
• Recommended level: any, starting from 10 (the content scales through the Chromie system).
• A completed Zuldazar introductory quest chain (to unlock access to the War Beast Garrison).
• A minimum of 28–30 days to complete the entire daily-quest chain.
• For the upgrade to a flying mount: the Battle for Azeroth Pathfinder, Part Two achievement.

Zuldazar is the starting zone of Zandalar for Horde characters. If you're heading to Zandalar for the first time at level 80:

1. Speak with Chromie in the Horde capital and choose the Battle for Azeroth timeline
2. Pick up the quest from Nathanos Blightcaller on the notice board or right at the docks in Orgrimmar
3. Follow the introductory chain — you'll be brought to Dazar'alor, the capital of Zuldazar
4. After completing the introductory quests, you'll gain access to all of Zandalar's zones

If you've already been to Zuldazar, use the portal from Orgrimmar to Dazar'alor or a hearthstone set to Dazar'alor.

The Beginning: Finding the Egg

The chain begins with the Pterrordax Egg, which drops from pterrordax all across Zandalar. Most often it's farmed from bloodthirsty pterrordax near Zanchul and skyscreamer pterrordax on Pterrordax Bluff. The drop chance is low, but farming usually takes between 5 and 30 minutes.

When the egg lands in your bag, the quest Pa'ku's Child begins automatically.

Quest: Pa'ku's Child

Bring the egg to the loa Pa'ku on Pterrordax Bluff in Zuldazar. Pa'ku will bless the egg and direct you to the War Beast Garrison.

Quest: It's Your Problem Now

Place the egg in the nest in the War Beast Garrison. A little Kua'fon will hatch from the egg — your charge for the coming month.

Quest: SKREE!

The first feeding. Buy Dinosaur Hatchling Feed from Teki the Butcher near the War Beast Garrison and feed Kua'fon.

Stage 1: Nature vs. Nurture

After the first feeding, the first raising stage begins. Kua'fon gains an experience bar that you need to fill by completing one daily quest per day. The stage takes a minimum of 7 days.

Stage 1 daily quests:

• A Nose for Trouble — defeat a territorial razorwing threatening Kua'fon
• SKREE! — feed Kua'fon Dinosaur Hatchling Feed
• Skree... — pick up the frightened Kua'fon and calm it down
• Out on a Limb — get the stuck Kua'fon down from a tree

Each day the system randomly chooses one of these quests. After filling the experience bar, turn in the quest Nature vs. Nurture.

Interlude Quests: The First Flight

After completing Stage 1, Kua'fon grows up and tries to take flight.

• The Call of the Skies — Kua'fon tries to fly for the first time
• Fear of Heights — the flight ends in a fall. Find Kua'fon in the territory of Talanji's Rebuke
• Back to the Nest — bring Kua'fon home, luring it with Shimmerscale Flesh

Stage 2: Room to Grow

Kua'fon has grown stronger, but isn't ready to fly yet. The second raising stage begins — 14 daily quests.

Stage 2 daily quests:

• A Nose for Trouble — defeat a fearsome aggressor near Atal'Gral.
• SKREE! — feed Kua'fon Free-Range Dino Feed.
• Kua'fon's Day Off — find the runaway Kua'fon in the Port of Zandalar.
• I'm Not Giving It Back, Just Throwing It — play ball with Kua'fon using Kua'fon's Favorite Skull.
• The Mast Effect — get Kua'fon down from a ship's mast in Talanji's Rebuke, luring it with Shimmerscale Flesh.

After filling the experience bar, turn in the quest Room to Grow.

Interlude Quests: The Second Flight

Kua'fon is straining for the sky again. This time you help it with a kite.

• A Pterrordax's Fate — Kua'fon tries to fly again, but it needs help
• Surrogate Wings — buy a Giant Dragon Kite from Elli Frazz in the Port of Zandalar district for 119 gold
• Stick the Landing! — fly together with Kua'fon on the kite through cloud rings.
• Maybe When You're Older — return to the nest.

Stage 3: Eyes on the Skies

The final raising stage — another 7 daily quests.

Stage 3 daily quests:

• A Nose for Trouble — defeat an elite beast in the Savage Coast
• Stick the Landing! — fly on the kite with Kua'fon through cloud rings
• SKREE! — feed Kua'fon Extra-Hearty Dino Feed, sold by Teki the Butcher
• Kua'fon's Day Off — find Kua'fon on the Terrace of the Chosen.

After filling the experience bar, turn in the quest Eyes on the Skies.

The Finale: Earning the Mount

Kua'fon is finally ready to become your mount, but it needs gear.

• Aerial Aspirations — Kua'fon tries to fly with you on its back
• Wisdom of the Wingless — consult with Hexlord Raal
• Dress for the Glide, Not the Ride — gather gear for Kua'fon: buy a Lightweight Sky Barding from Talutu at the Grand Bazaar for 1,250 gold and a Berserker's Skull from Headhunter Lani in the Zocalo for 67 gold
• The Joy of Flight — take a vehicle flight with Kua'fon back to the nest
• Just a Temporary Setback — the final quest! Receive Kua'fon's Harness and the How to Ptrain Your Pterrordax achievement.

Initially, Kua'fon is a ground mount. In patch 8.2, the option to make it a flying mount was added.

Quest: Just Trust Me

Requirements:

• The completed quest Just a Temporary Setback
• The Battle for Azeroth Pathfinder, Part Two achievement

After meeting these conditions, return to Kua'fon in the War Beast Garrison — a short quest will appear, after which the mount gains the ability to fly. The upgrade applies account-wide.

In current content (The War Within, patch 11.1), the Battle for Azeroth Pathfinder, Part Two achievement no longer requires much effort — most of the conditions are met automatically as you level through BfA content.
