Overview

Lamplighter's Torch

Game iconLamplighter's Torch is a one-handed mace from The War Within expansion that appears in your collection as a cosmetic appearance and adds a transmog illusion to your warband's collection. It is not a combat weapon with stats but rather an appearance item: a living flame burns at the end of the haft, referencing the lamplighters' order of Hallowfall, who keep the Sacred Flame burning in the fight against the encroaching darkness.

The model is done in warm orange-gold tones with a bright light source on the head. The illusion is bound to the warband, so once obtained the appearance becomes available to every character on your account. The required level to use it is 70.

Source

The appearance is obtained in the Hallowfall zone in two ways.

Purchase from a vendor. The item is sold by the weaponsmith Aeden Braesmeld in the settlement of Mereldar. He stands in the Hallowfall zone at roughly these coordinates:

/way #2248 42.0 54.6 Aeden Braesmeld (Mereldar)
  • The price is 500 units of the Resonance Crystals currency.
  • Resonance Crystals are the shared currency of Khaz Algar, awarded for completing quests, world quests, and raising your renown with the region's factions.

Quest reward. The same appearance can be obtained as a reward for the Blades of the Arathi quest, which takes place in Hallowfall. In the storyline you need to light a torch from the Sacred Flame and inspire six groups of arathi in Sinabarg. If you take the reward this way, buying the item from the vendor is not necessary.

Who it suits visually

  • It fits looks for lamplighters and servants of the Sacred Flame — thematically tied to the arathi armor sets of Hallowfall.
  • The burning head looks great paired with light cloth or mail armor in a gold-and-white palette.
  • The lit version adds a light source to your character, so it works for priest, paladin, and shaman concepts centered on fire and light.
  • The unlit variant fits better with darker, shadowy looks, where an open flame would be out of place.

Tips

1

The appearance is bound to the warband, so you only need to obtain it once — it immediately becomes available to every character on the account.

2

If you are going through the Hallowfall campaign anyway, it is easier to take the torch as the reward for the "Blades of the Arathi" quest and save the currency.

3

Resonance Crystals accumulate throughout Khaz Algar, so by the time you finish the zone you usually have enough for both torch variants.

4

Take both versions from Aeden Braesmeld at once — the lit and the unlit one: the second costs the same and expands your transmog options.

5

This is a cosmetic illusion with 1 damage, so you should equip the torch purely for its appearance, not for combat.

6

To unlock the illusion the item must be applied (used) — after that you no longer need to keep it in your bags.
