Lil' Donkey

Lil' Donkey is an epic ground mount added in patch 8.0.1 of the Battle for Azeroth expansion. It is a small, stubborn donkey that the Drywhisker kobolds abducted from the village of Newstead in the Arathi Highlands and were planning to eat for dinner. Fortunately, when Overseer Krix fell at the hands of adventurers, the donkey was rescued and found a new owner.

Lil' Donkey is one of the smallest mounts in the game. It is noticeably more compact than standard horses and ponies, which makes it especially amusing on large races such as tauren or dracthyr. On gnomes and goblins, however, the mount looks proportionate and very harmonious. When you use the /mountspecial command, the donkey starts nibbling on grass.

• Unique appearance — this is the only donkey mount in the game. Its miniature size and amusing animations are guaranteed to draw the attention of other players
• Rarity — the drop chance is around 7%, and access to the boss is restricted by special zone phasing. Not every player is willing to farm this mount, so spotting it in cities is quite rare
• Lore and character — the mount's description in the mount journal reads: "This donkey was most likely abducted from Newstead in the Arathi Highlands. The kobolds were planning to eat it." The rescue story adds a special charm to the mount
• Available to all characters — once learned, the mount appears in the collection of every character on the account
• Amusing contrast — the mount looks especially comical on characters of large races — tauren and dracthyr literally drag their feet along the ground while sitting on the tiny donkey

Lil' Donkey drops from the rare elite mob Overseer Krix in the Arathi Highlands. To access this mob, you need to switch to the BfA phase of the zone.

1. Head to the Arathi Highlands. Use the portal in your faction's capital or fly in on a mount from neighboring zones
2. Find Zidormi — a bronze dragon who switches the zone's phase. She stands in the southern part of the Arathi Highlands, near Thandol Span (coordinates roughly 38, 90)
3. Talk to Zidormi and ask to see the events of the Battle for Azeroth era. The zone will switch to the BfA phase with rare mobs from the warfronts
4. Make your way to the Drywhisker kobold mine. Overseer Krix's coordinates depend on which faction controls the zone: under Horde control — 27.46, 55.89 (southern mine); under Alliance control — 33.04, 37.49 (northern mine). The entrance to the northern cave is at coordinates 33.72, 36.68
5. Kill Overseer Krix and claim Lil' Donkey if it drops
6. If the mount does not drop, wait for the respawn (roughly 20–30 minutes) and try again

Zidormi's Coordinates

Important Phasing Details

• Zidormi is available to characters level 50 and above (level 51 is the most reliable)
• After switching the phase, you will end up in the BfA version of the zone, where all rare warfront mobs are visible
• To return to the normal phase, talk to Zidormi again
• If Zidormi is not showing up, make sure your character has reached the required level

Overseer Krix is a kobold, a rare elite mob at level 52 with 398,460 health. He oversees the work of the Drywhisker kobolds in the mine and is one of the priority targets within the "Battle for Stromgarde" warfront.

Combat Specifics

• Krix is immune to taunt — he ignores abilities such as a warrior's Taunt and a hunter's pet Growl
• He also ignores the warlock's Voidwalker and the shaman's earth elemental
• Slowing effects do not work on him, so kiting is ineffective
• At max level (90 in Midnight), Krix is killed in a few seconds and poses no threat whatsoever

Overseer Krix's Coordinates

Respawn

Overseer Krix respawns roughly every 20–30 minutes after being killed. Loot can be obtained from him once per day, so if the mount does not drop — come back the next day.

Daily Routine

1. Log in on a character level 50+ (ideally at max level for an instant kill)
2. Teleport to the nearest point to the Arathi Highlands (the portal to Ironforge or a hearthstone in the Wetlands)
3. Fly to the Arathi Highlands and talk to Zidormi to switch to the BfA phase
4. Make your way to the mine and kill Overseer Krix
5. If the mount does not drop, repeat tomorrow. If you have several characters — repeat on each of them

Multiple Characters

Since loot is limited to once per day per character, the best way to speed up the farm is to use several characters. Every character level 50+ can kill Krix and get a chance at the drop.

Farming Math

With a drop chance of ~7% and one attempt per day per character:

• 1 character — on average 14–15 days to get the mount
• 3 characters — on average 5 days
• 5 characters — on average 3 days
• 10 characters — on average 1–2 days

Of course, these are average values — you might get lucky on your first kill or unlucky even after 50 attempts.
