Malavita first discovered World of Warcraft in Draenor, but truly got into the game with the Shadowlands expansion. Has a soft spot for Demon Hunters and Mages. Considers her main goal to be collecting as many mounts as possible.

Magnificent Flying Carpet is an epic flying mount crafted with the Tailoring profession. This carpet was added in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion (patch 3.0.3) and remains one of the most recognizable profession mounts in the game.
Visually, it's a luxurious woven carpet with rich ornamentation in red and gold tones. The item description reads: "Standard configuration includes a sturdy frame of enchanted Frostweave and genuine Spider's Silk thread. Spare head cushion sold separately." The buff applied on use contains a reference to Disney's "Aladdin" movie.
Important: unlike many other crafted mounts, the flying carpets require the Tailoring profession not only to craft them, but also to use them. If you abandon the profession, the mount becomes unavailable until you regain the skill.
The recipe for the
Magnificent Flying Carpet is learned from Northrend Tailoring trainers. The most convenient option is Charles Worth, who can be found in the "Especially Good Stuff" shop in Old Dalaran:
The cost to learn the recipe is 2 silver. The recipe can also be learned from other Northrend Tailoring trainers: Darin Goodstitch, Dustin Vale or Raenah.
To create the Magnificent Flying Carpet you will need the following materials:
| Material | Quantity | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 12 | Crafting (Tailoring) | |
| 4 | Mining, Auction House | |
| 4 | Cloth and dye vendors | |
| 2 | Cloth and dye vendors | |
| 4 | Spiders in Northrend, Auction House |
Each
Bolt of Imbued Frostweave is created from:
In total, for 12 bolts of imbued Frostweave you will need 24 Bolts of Frostweave (that is, 120 pieces of Frostweave Cloth) and 24 Infinite Dust.
Make sure you have the Tailoring profession. If you haven't learned this profession yet, visit any tailoring trainer in your faction's capital.
Level Northrend Tailoring up to 50. To do this, head to Dalaran (Northrend) and learn from a trainer. Craft simple Frostweave items to build up the skill.
Learn the recipe from a trainer. Visit Charles Worth in Old Dalaran and learn the recipe for the Magnificent Flying Carpet for 2 silver.
Gather the materials. The fastest way is to buy everything from the Auction House. Frostweave Cloth is farmed from humanoids in Northrend zones (The Storm Peaks, Icecrown). Iceweb Spider Silk drops from spiders in Northrend zones. Dyes are sold by cloth-vendor NPCs.
Craft the item. Open the profession window, find the recipe "Magnificent Flying Carpet" and click "Create". The item is bound to the character on creation.
Use the item. Right-click the item in your inventory to learn the mount. After that, it will appear in your mount collection.
Buy materials at the Auction House mid-week — prices for Frostweave Cloth and Infinite Dust are usually lower than on weekends, when demand rises.
Don't forget the dyes. They are often absent from the Auction House, but you can always find them at cloth-vendor NPCs in any major city. Look for vendors via the profession window or ask the guards.
If you have an enchanter, disenchant green Northrend items to obtain Infinite Dust instead of buying it on the Auction House.
The topaz is the most expensive component. This orange gem can be obtained from prospecting in Northrend zones or bought on the Auction House. Also check the cut variants — they may cost less than the uncut ones.
The mount is account-bound. Although the item binds to the character on creation, once learned the mount becomes available to all your characters who have at least 1 skill point in Northrend Tailoring.
The mount's speed adapts to your riding skill: from 60% on the ground to 310% in the air if you have the Master Riding skill.
