Majestic Azure Peafowl
Overview

Majestic Azure Peafowl is a flying mount added to World of Warcraft in patch 10.2.5 "Seeds of Renewal" (January 16, 2024). It is a shimmering azure-blue bird with a lush fanned-out tail whose plumage glimmers with shades of indigo and cobalt. The mount supports the advanced-flight mode inherited from the dragonriding skill system, so in the air the peafowl actively flaps its wings and performs maneuvers on par with the dragons of the Dragon Isles.
The only source of the mount is the Trading Post. The reins are sold for Trader's Tender during the months when the item enters the rotation. The peafowl first appeared in March 2024 at a price of 750 tenders, and most recently in February 2026 for just 500 tenders. The rest of the time the item is unavailable and only returns with the next rotation.
Why you want this mount
- Unique peafowl model — at release this was the first "true" peafowl in the WoW mount collection. Its azure coloring sets it apart from its counterpart, the
Brilliant Sunburst Peafowl, which is also sold at the Trading Post in other months - Cosmetic currency instead of raids — no random drops, drop chances or weekly loot locks. The mount is guaranteed to be yours if you have enough Trader's Tender saved up when it appears in the rotation
- Account-wide access — once purchased on a single character, the mount unlocks for every character on your account regardless of faction
- Low barrier to entry — all you need is level 35 and an active subscription. No reputation quests, professions or achievements
How to obtain
The only path is to wait for a month in which the
Reins of the Majestic Azure Peafowl enter the Trading Post rotation, and to buy them for Trader's Tender.
- Head into Stormwind or Orgrimmar and approach the Trading Post stand. For the Alliance it is run by the trader Tannix in the Old Town, for the Horde by Zen'shiri in the Valley of Honor
- Open the post interface and check the current month's list. If it contains the line "Reins of the Majestic Azure Peafowl", you can buy them right now
- If you are short on tenders, press "Freeze" to reserve the item until next month. A frozen item carries over into the next rotation even if it otherwise disappears from the shop
- Earn the missing tenders through the monthly activities (see the section below)
- Return to the trader, buy the
Reins of the Majestic Azure Peafowl, use the item — and the
Majestic Azure Peafowl spell will appear in your mount journal
If the peafowl is not in the current rotation, the only thing to do is save up tenders and wait. The Trading Post returns old items cyclically, so the mount is sure to show up again within a few months.
Rotation history
The peafowl did not appear for sale every month. The price changed: the first release used the starting cost, while the 2026 return used an updated, lower one.
| Month | Price | Note |
|---|---|---|
| March 2024 | 750 Trader's Tender | Debut, first rotation after the release of patch 10.2.5 |
| February 2026 | 500 Trader's Tender | Reduced price, last confirmed rotation |
| Future months | Return expected | Exact date not announced |
In the remaining months the mount is unavailable. If the peafowl is not listed in the current reward list, save up tenders for the next cycle and check the post interface on the first day of each month.
How to earn Trader's Tender
To buy the
Reins of the Majestic Azure Peafowl you need between 500 and 750 Trader's Tender depending on the month. You can accumulate them through two regular sources plus a few one-time bonuses.
Monthly Collector's Chest
On the first day of every month a large chest appears at the Trading Post that grants 500 tenders to any player with an active subscription. Open it — that alone is enough to buy the peafowl at the February 2026 price.
Traveler's Log
A monthly list of 12 tasks opens through the log at the Trading Post. By completing the entries you fill a progress bar and earn up to 500 additional tenders plus an exclusive reward at the end.
- Open the "Traveler's Log" next to the Trading Post stand
- Choose the tasks that suit your playstyle: dungeons, raids, professions, the open world, PvP
- Each completed task fills the progress bar
- At the top of the bar you receive 500 tenders and the unique cosmetic item of the month
Farming optimization
Log in on the first day of each month
The log progress and the Collector's Chest reset on the 1st. So as not to miss a single cycle:
- Log in on the first day of the month and immediately grab the chest with 500 tenders
- Open the log and freeze the
Reins of the Majestic Azure Peafowl if they are in the current rotation but you are short on currency - Immediately run through the task list and mark the ones you will complete during the month
Pick tasks suited to your content
The log always has entries for raiders, PvPers, fans of old content and professions. Don't try to close everything out — filling the progress bar is enough. The fastest tasks are usually tied to pet battles, professions and resource gathering.
Freeze the item in advance
The "Freeze" button lets you reserve one item that carries over into the next month. If you see the
Reins of the Majestic Azure Peafowl in the current rotation but you are short on tenders, freeze the item immediately. That way you gain another month to accumulate currency without waiting for the item to reappear in the rotation.
Currency limit and cap
Keep two important limits in mind:
- You can earn a maximum of 1000 tenders per month: 500 from the chest + 500 from the log
- The overall cap on your tender stock is also limited — watch your balance so you don't hit the ceiling and lose part of the reward
If you save up tenders regularly, by the time the peafowl next appears you will have more than enough funds, especially at the reduced price of 500 tenders.
Tips
Don't skip the chest — even if you don't need tenders right now, grab the 500 tenders on the first of every month. They will come in handy at the next rotation of rare items, including the peafowls
Freeze the item from the first month — the "Freeze" button works once, so use it precisely on the mount if it is in the rotation, not on a small cosmetic
Prepare tenders in advance — the latest rotations have shown that the price drops over time (from 750 to 500 tenders). If you are in no hurry, it is reasonable to wait for a new rotation with the reduced cost
Drop by the Trading Post monthly — the exact return date of the
Reins of the Majestic Azure Peafowl is not announced in advance. Checking takes a minute
Use the log on alts — Traveler's Log progress is tied to the account. If your main character can't complete a task in time, any of your alts can close it
Don't spend tenders on ordinary cosmetic items — until you have secured the peafowl and the
Reins of the Brilliant Sunburst Peafowl, priority always goes to rare mounts and pets. Armor and weapon appearances return on a cycle more often
Dynamic flight works everywhere — the peafowl uses dragonriding flight by default, but in zones with old-style flying it easily switches to normal mode via the riding skill control panel
