Maldraxxian Corpsefly

Maldraxxian Corpsefly is an epic ground and flying mount added in patch 9.1 "Chains of Domination" of the Shadowlands expansion. It is a large corpsefly from Maldraxxus, ridden with the aid of a special harness. The mount is awarded automatically upon reaching Renown level 45 with the Necrolord Covenant.

Corpseflies once lived all across Maldraxxus, but many of them died out due to the lack of anima. Now that anima flows through the Shadowlands once more, these insects have again swarmed the area. The mount features a unique insect model with a distinctive greenish hue and massive wings.

• Guaranteed acquisition — the mount is awarded automatically upon reaching the required Renown level. No random drops or extra costs
• Ground and flying — the mount works both on the ground and in the air. Flight speed reaches up to +310% depending on your riding skill
• Unique model — the corpsefly is a large insect with expressive flight animation that stands out among standard mounts
• Available to all characters — once obtained, the mount becomes available on every character on your account. Upon reaching Renown level 80 with the Necrolords, the mount unlocks even for characters in other Covenants

To obtain the mount you must join the Necrolord Covenant and reach Renown level 45.

1. Reach level 60 and complete the main Shadowlands campaign in the Shadowlands
2. When choosing a Covenant, join the ranks of the Necrolords in the Theater of Pain, Maldraxxus
3. Build your Renown to level 45 by completing the Covenant campaign, weekly quests, and world quests
4. Upon reaching Renown 45 the mount automatically appears in your collection
5. Open the mount collection (Shift+P) and find the mount to summon it

Renown is the Covenant progression system in Shadowlands. The maximum Renown level is 80. To obtain the mount you must reach level 45.

Covenant Campaign (Main Source)

Each chapter of the Necrolord campaign rewards 2 Renown levels. Completing the entire campaign is the fastest way to earn your first levels. Chapters unlock as your Renown grows, so complete them at the earliest opportunity.

Weekly Quests

Two weekly quests grant 1 Renown level each:

• Replenish the Reservoir — gather 1,000 anima from any sources (world quests, dungeons, raids)
• Return Lost Souls — rescue souls from the Maw by running Torghast

Additional Sources of Renown

• Shadowlands dungeons and raids — dungeon and raid bosses have a chance to reward a Renown level
• Torghast — clearing Torghast floors gives a chance for additional Renown. The higher the level, the higher the chance
• World quests — world quests in Maldraxxus and other Shadowlands zones can grant Renown when the catch-up mechanic is active
• Korthia quests — content in the Korthia zone (added in patch 9.1) is also a source of Renown

Catch-Up Mechanic

If your Renown level falls behind the current cap, the catch-up mechanic activates: nearly any Shadowlands activity (dungeons, raids, world quests, PvP) starts granting additional Renown levels. This significantly speeds up the process.

If you already have a character at Renown level 80 in any Covenant on your account, you can purchase a Cypher of Relocation that instantly raises your current Covenant's Renown to level 60.

Recommended Order of Actions

1. Start with the Covenant campaign — this is the fastest source of Renown at the early levels. Each chapter grants 2 levels
2. Complete the weekly quests — "Replenish the Reservoir" and "Return Lost Souls" grant guaranteed Renown levels every week
3. Run Torghast — high floors provide a steady chance at Renown
4. Run dungeons and raids — Shadowlands bosses grant additional levels while the catch-up mechanic is active
5. Complete Korthia content — daily quests and tasks in Korthia accelerate progress after patch 9.1

How Long It Takes

With active progression using all available sources, reaching Renown level 45 takes roughly 1–2 weeks. With the catch-up mechanic the process speeds up significantly: you can earn several Renown levels in a single play session.
