Margin Manipulator

Margin Manipulator is a flying mount in the form of a goblin flying machine, added in patch 11.1. It is a blue mechanical mount with the distinctive industrial design typical of goblin engineering.

The mount is purchased from the vendor Skedgit Cinderbangs for 25 Miscellaneous Mechanica — a rare currency that drops in the Undermine zone.

• Completion of the The War Within main campaign (the "Khaz Algar" storyline)
• Completion of the Skedgit Cinderbangs quest chain (from "The Job" to "The Getaway") — this unlocks the NPC's vendor interface
• 25 Miscellaneous Mechanica — the currency to purchase the mount
• Apprentice riding skill or higher for ground travel; Expert for flying

1. Complete the main The War Within campaign (the "Khaz Algar" storyline)
2. Head to the Hall of the Vault in Dornogal and speak with Renzik "The Shiv"
3. Accept the quest "When Opportunity Knocks"
4. Follow the quest chain to the Sluice Rocket Station in the Ringing Deeps
5. After finishing the introductory quest, you will be sent straight to Undermine via rocket
6. On arrival at the Central Impact Site, speak with Bafflemug across the way — he gives the quest "Test Run", which unlocks the teleport back to Dornogal

Once unlocked, the teleport is available to all characters on the account.

To unlock Skedgit Cinderbangs' vendor interface and gain the ability to buy mounts, you must complete a chain of five quests — the so-called "heist":

After completing the quest "The Getaway", Skedgit Cinderbangs begins selling mounts. The quest chain takes 15–20 minutes and is available immediately upon arriving in Undermine.

Skedgit Cinderbangs is located in the "Venture Co. Inc." building, south of the The Dump flight point.

Miscellaneous Mechanica are spare parts "good enough to use in various contraptions". The item is account-bound and stacks up to 100.

Realistic Farming Rates

Miscellaneous Mechanica is one of the slowest-acquired currencies in patch 11.1. According to community reports:

• Wowhead lists a drop chance of around 5%, but players report the real chance feels lower
• On average 1–3 pieces per week with daily farming on a single character
• The highest recorded drop chance is from Chief Foreman Gutso — around 7%
• Farming priority: cartel elites > paragon chests > major elite rares > regular rares
• Buying the mount for 25 units takes several weeks of active farming; with alts, significantly faster

• Start with the quest chain. The first thing to do after arriving in Undermine is to complete the Skedgit Cinderbangs quest chain to unlock the vendor interface. Without it, buying the mount is impossible.
• Kill every rare. With such a low drop chance, every rare killed is a chance to get closer to your goal. Use the RareScanner or SilverDragon addons to track rare spawns on your minimap.
• Cartel elites are the top priority. They have an increased drop chance and can be farmed repeatedly. Watch the zone chat for announcements about such mobs appearing.
• Build up cartel reputations. Paragon chests from all four Undermine cartels provide a steady stream of currency with about a 50% chance. Don't ignore daily and weekly reputation tasks.
• Farm on alts. Miscellaneous Mechanica is account-bound, so you can collect it on all your level-80 characters and spend it on one. The more alts, the faster the result.
• Buying on the auction house. The Margin Manipulator binds when used, not when picked up. If you have enough gold, you can buy it on the auction house from other players, bypassing the lengthy currency farm. Prices vary but can be around 1,000,000 gold and up.
• Be patient. At the current farming rates, buying the mount for 25 units on a single character will take 3 to 6 weeks. Using multiple alts cuts this time down dramatically.
