Overview

Mastercraft Gravewing

Game iconMastercraft Gravewing is an epic ground and flying mount added in patch 9.1 of the Shadowlands expansion. It is a stoneborn gravewing personally crafted by the Stonewright, leader of the stoneborn of Revendreth. The mount is awarded for completing the quest Gravewing Crystal, which begins with the item of the same name that drops from the Stygian Stonecrusher during the "Broken Bruiser" event in the southern part of Korthia.

The Mastercraft Gravewing is an elegant dark-grey stone gargoyle with distinctive glowing elements. The mount belongs to the gravewing family, which also includes several other variants: bronze, obsidian, ashen and sinful. The Mastercraft version stands out with a unique design that highlights the skill of the Stonewright.

Why You Want This Mount

  • Unique appearance — the Mastercraft Gravewing features a detailed stoneborn model that sets it apart from other gravewings. It is a personal creation of the Stonewright, not a mass-produced one
  • Ground and flying — the mount works both on the ground and in the air, providing up to +310% speed depending on your riding skill
  • Collector value — the low drop chance (~1.6%) makes the mount rare. Far from all players are willing to farm it deliberately, so it is rarely seen out in the open world
  • Available to all characters — once learned, the mount appears in the mount journal on every character of your account
  • Revendreth aesthetic — perfect for looks in the gothic style of Revendreth. The dark stone texture harmonizes with Venthyr covenant transmogs

Requirements

To obtain the mount you must meet the following conditions:

  • Character level — 90 (the current maximum level in Midnight)
  • Covenant — your character must belong to the Venthyr covenant. Only a Venthyr member can start the event and loot the boss
  • Riding skill — Apprentice Riding (ground mode), Expert Riding (flight)
  • Access to Korthia — you must complete the introductory quest chain of patch 9.1 "Chains of Domination" to unlock Korthia

Note: Shadowlands is currently legacy content. The covenant system remains available, but leveling is greatly simplified at level 90 — all mobs die in seconds.

How to Get to Korthia

Korthia is a zone added in patch 9.1 of Shadowlands. To get there:

  1. Reach Oribos — use the portal from your faction's capital (Stormwind or Orgrimmar). The portals to Oribos are located in the portal hall
  2. In Oribos, speak with Highlord Bolvar Fordragon to start the patch 9.1 quest chain
  3. Follow the introductory story chain — it will take you to Korthia through several quests
  4. After completing the introduction, a permanent portal from Oribos to Korthia (Keeper's Respite) will open

If you have already unlocked Korthia before, use the portal from Oribos directly.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Join the Venthyr Covenant

If your character is not yet a member of the Venthyr covenant, head to Oribos and speak with the Venthyr representative in the covenant hall. In the current version of the game there are no restrictions on switching covenants — the transfer happens instantly.

Step 2: Get to Southern Korthia

Travel to Korthia through the portal from Oribos. From Keeper's Respite, use the Skitterfly Transporter, which will take you to the southern part of the zone. The transporter is located on the southern edge of Keeper's Respite.

Step 3: Find the "Broken Bruiser" Event

Head to the coordinates /way 46.5 79.8 — this is the south-western side of the Vault of Secrets. When the event is active, a star with the label "Broken Bruiser" appears on the map. The event is not always available — it spawns periodically, like other Korthia vignettes.

Step 4: Speak with Drippy and Start the Event

Near the event location there is an NPC named Drippy. Only a player from the Venthyr covenant can interact with him and trigger the event. Speak with Drippy to begin.

Step 5: Complete the Event

Once activated, a wave event will begin:

  1. Waves of enemies will approach you — destroy them
  2. In parallel, the bruiser's repair bar fills up
  3. When the bar is completely full, the boss appears — the Stygian Stonecrusher
  4. Kill the boss

At level 90 the boss poses no challenge at all. You will easily handle it solo in a few seconds.

Step 6: Grab the Loot

After killing the Stygian Stonecrusher, it may drop the Game iconGravewing Crystal. The drop chance is approximately 1.6%, so it will most likely take several attempts. The loot is available only to players from the Venthyr covenant.

Step 7: Turn In the Quest to the Stonewright

If the Gravewing Crystal drops, it will automatically start the quest Gravewing Crystal. Take the crystal to the Stonewright — she is located in Keeper's Respite in Korthia. Turn in the quest and receive the Game iconMastercraft Gravewing as a reward.

Step 8: Learn the Mount

Use the obtained item to add the mount to your mount journal. After that it will be available on all characters of your account.

Tips

1

Daily loot — the Stygian Stonecrusher has a daily loot lockout. You can farm it once a day on each Venthyr character. Set up several alts in the Venthyr covenant to increase the number of attempts per day

2

Check for the event — the "Broken Bruiser" event is not always up. If there is no star on the map, wait or come back later. The event usually respawns after 15–30 minutes

3

Use addons — addons like RareFinder, RareScanner or SilverDragon will help you track active vignettes and alert you when the event becomes available

4

Skitterfly Transporter — the fastest way to the event location from Keeper's Respite. Do not waste time walking there

5

Be ready for a long farm — at a drop chance of ~1.6% it will statistically take around 60 kills to get the item. Some players report 90+ attempts. Do not despair if the crystal does not drop right away

6

Content is outdated — at level 90 all of Korthia's content is trivial. You do not need to pick gear or companions — just teleport in, kill the boss and leave

7

Switching covenants is free — if your main character belongs to another covenant, you can temporarily switch to Venthyr without any penalties. After getting the mount, return to your covenant

8

Mount for all covenants — although a Venthyr is required to obtain it, once learned the mount is available on characters of any covenant and in any content
