Masterwork Ghost Shard — Transmog Set Guide
Overview

Masterwork Ghost Shard is an uncommon (blue-quality) one-handed dagger from the Mists of Pandaria expansion, added alongside the Pandaren blacksmithing system. The model is styled in the manner characteristic of Pandaria's crafted blades: a thin, straight blade of ghost iron with a faint greenish sheen, a simple wrapped grip, and a compact, unadorned guard. The color palette is a cold steel grey with a greenish-white metallic glow, a nod to the very material of the item, ghost iron.
The dagger has item level 15 and requires character level 35. Its stats include agility, stamina, critical strike rating, and mastery; the primary target class is the rogue, as well as the survival hunter, who in the Mists of Pandaria era wielded one-handed melee weapons. For transmog collectors, the item is valuable as a rare "crafted" silhouette of Pandaria's daggers in a plain, no-frills design.
Source
The dagger does not drop from bosses or mobs — it is a Pandaren blacksmithing craft. To add the model to your transmog collection, you must either craft the item yourself or order it from a player blacksmith.
- Profession: Way of the Grand Master Blacksmith level 50 or higher.
- Recipe:
Plans: Masterwork Ghost Shard — sold by the NPC Ambersmith Zikk in the Dread Wastes, coordinates /way #6138 55 35, the Klaxxi camp in the center of the zone. - Reputation required: Honored with the Klaxxi faction. Without the proper reputation level, the vendor will not sell the plan.
- Plan cost: 20 units of the
Kyparite currency, or an equivalent amount of guild reputation/gold depending on the patch. - Reagents to craft one item:
Ghost Iron Bar (15x),
Spirit of Harmony (5x), and
Kyparite (40x). - The finished item becomes soulbound on equip, so crafting it through another player is possible, but buying an already-equipped copy from the auction house is not.
For a modern player, the fastest route is to fly to the Dread Wastes on a blacksmith character, level the Pandaria branch to 50, grind Klaxxi reputation through daily quests up to Honored, and buy the plan. The alternative is to order the craft from another player, handing over all the reagents.
Who It Suits Visually
- Pairs with Pandaren ghost iron blacksmithing sets — a shared cold steel palette and greenish highlights.
- Harmonizes with light leather armor in natural shades: browns, greens, and greys nicely emphasize the blade's austere silhouette.
- A good companion to "wandering rogue" or "scout" style outfits: a simple, unadorned blade that doesn't pull attention from the look itself.
- Suits themed builds around the Klaxxi, Shado-Pan, and other Pandaren organizations thanks to the model's "crafted" origin.
- Contrasts with massive plate armor and the flashy tier sets of later expansions — a debatable but deliberate choice for minimalist looks.
Tips
Before traveling to the vendor, check your reputation level with the Klaxxi: the plan requires Honored. Daily quests in the Dread Wastes and Pandaren quest chains help raise reputation.
Ghost iron bars can be gathered yourself through Pandaria mining or bought from the auction house: demand for them today is minimal, and the price is usually low.
Spirit of Harmony is obtained by recycling large stacks of profession materials gathered in Pandaria, or occasionally drops from rare mobs and bosses.
Kyparite is used both as a crafting reagent and as currency to buy the plan, so when farming, set aside a stock for both purposes.
If you don't have the Pandaria blacksmithing profession yourself, it's easier to find a player blacksmith through trade chat or your guild and hand over the reagents for the craft — the model enters your transmog collection after equipping it.
The item you receive is item level 15 and carries no combat value today — take it purely for the appearance.
While farming Klaxxi reputation, other Pandaria blacksmithing plans also unlock — it's efficient to gather all the interesting models in a single session.

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
