Overview

Mechagon Peacekeeper

Game iconMechagon Peacekeeper is a rare mechanical mount from the Battle for Azeroth expansion, added in patch 8.2. It is a four-legged, spider-like mecha-tank with a distinctive yellow paint job and bright blue headlights. The mount drops from the boss HK-8 Aerial Oppression Unit in the Operation: Mechagon dungeon on Mythic difficulty. The drop chance is approximately 0.5%.

Why You Want This Mount

  • Rarity — the drop chance is around 0.5%, making the Mechagon Peacekeeper one of the rarest dungeon mounts in the game
  • Unique model — an imposing, spider-type mecha-tank with an aggressive design. It belongs to the Mechagon mecha-spider series
  • Can fly — since patch 9.2.0, all mecha-tanks gained the ability to fly with a unique animation
  • Collector's value — a mount from outdated content with an extremely low drop chance. Having the Mechagon Peacekeeper in your collection demonstrates the owner's persistence and luck

How to Obtain

There are three ways to obtain this mount:

  1. Farming the Operation: Mechagon dungeon — the primary method. Kill the boss HK-8 Aerial Oppression Unit on Mythic difficulty weekly on every available character
  2. Black Market — the mount is periodically listed at the Black Market Auction House. The starting bid is 20,000 gold, but the final price usually reaches several million
  3. Reins of the Quantum Courser — the extremely rare item Game iconReins of the Quantum Courser, which drops from Chrono-Lord Deios in the Dawn of the Infinite dungeon on Mythic difficulty, transforms into a random unlearned dungeon mount when used. The Mechagon Peacekeeper is on the list of possible rewards

Important: the mount drops only on Mythic difficulty. It is not available on Heroic or Normal difficulty.

How to Reach Operation: Mechagon

The dungeon is located on the Island of Mechagon, northwest of the Tiragarde Sound (Kul Tiras).

Quick Method

In the current expansion, use the portal from Stormwind:

  1. Find the portal to the Island of Mechagon
  2. Go through the portal and make your way to the dungeon entrance in Rustbolt

Dungeon Entrance Coordinates

The entrance is located in the center of Rustbolt — the main settlement on the island.

Alternative Method (Without the Portal)

If the portal is unavailable, you can fly in on a flying mount from the northern part of Drustvar, through the fatigue zone. You can also ask a group to summon you with a meeting stone.

Access Requirements

To enter the dungeon on Mythic difficulty, you do not need to unlock the Island of Mechagon beforehand or complete the quest chain. It is enough to simply reach the entrance by any convenient means.

Dungeon Layout and the Path to the Boss

Operation: Mechagon is an 8-boss mega-dungeon, split into two wings:

  • Junkyard — bosses 1–4, the surface of the island
  • Workshop — bosses 5–8, the underground section

The Mechagon Peacekeeper drops from the HK-8 Aerial Oppression Unit — the fourth boss, the last one in the Junkyard wing. To reach it, you must defeat the three previous bosses:

  1. King Gobbamak — chieftain of the troggs
  2. Gunker — a slime boss
  3. Trixie & Naeno — a pair of gnome mechanics
  4. HK-8 Aerial Oppression Unit — your target

After defeating the HK-8 Aerial Oppression Unit, check the loot. If the mount did not drop, you can leave the dungeon — clearing the Workshop wing is not required to obtain the mount.

Solo-Run Specifics at Level 90

At max level (90), most bosses in the Junkyard wing pose no challenge. However, the fight against the HK-8 Aerial Oppression Unit has a mechanic that requires a special approach when running solo.

The "Annihilation" Phase

During the fight, the HK-8 Aerial Oppression Unit periodically casts the ability "Annihilation" — a powerful area-wide attack. Under normal circumstances, the group splits the tasks: some players hack the overload station while the rest distract the boss. When running solo, doing both at once is impossible.

Workaround for Solo Players

  1. Destroy the "Tankbuster" when it appears
  2. When the HK-8 Aerial Oppression Unit begins casting "Annihilation", run back toward Rustbolt — move far enough away to be out of the ability's range
  3. Stand in the corridor leading to Rustbolt and wait for "Annihilation" to finish
  4. As soon as the ability ends, return to the boss immediately
  5. Hack the overload station to strip the boss's invulnerability shield
  6. Continue dealing damage

For the successful execution of this tactic, using movement speed abilities is recommended. Classes with high mobility (demon hunter, druid, monk) handle this significantly more easily.

Farm Optimization

Weekly Attempts

The Mythic dungeon has a weekly reset. Every Tuesday you get a new attempt on each character. One attempt — one chance at the mount per week from each character.

Using Alts

The mount is bound on pickup and added to the shared account collection. The more level 90 characters you have, the more attempts per week. Each alt grants one additional attempt weekly.

Time Estimate

With a drop chance of ~0.5% and 1 attempt per week per character:

Attempts Chance of Obtaining
50 (50 weeks, 1 character) ~22%
100 (100 weeks, 1 character) ~39%
100 (20 weeks, 5 characters) ~39%
200 (40 weeks, 5 characters) ~63%
300 (30 weeks, 10 characters) ~78%

A large number of alts is critically important for farming this mount. With ten characters, the chance of getting the mount within six months is about 78%, whereas on a single character achieving a comparable result would take nearly six years.

Optimal Clear Route

Clearing the Junkyard wing at level 80 takes 5–10 minutes:

  1. Enter the dungeon, making sure Mythic difficulty is selected
  2. Sequentially destroy the three bosses — at max level each one dies in a few seconds
  3. Defeat the HK-8 Aerial Oppression Unit using the "Annihilation" phase workaround described above
  4. Check the loot and leave the dungeon
  5. Reset the dungeon through the menu (right-click your portrait → "Reset all instances") — this will not reset the weekly lockout, but it lets you ensure a clean state for the next alt

Tips

1

Check the difficulty before entering — the mount drops only on Mythic difficulty. Confirm through your character portrait that the Mythic version of the dungeon is selected

2

Watch the Black Market Auction House — if you have enough gold, buying at the auction house can be significantly faster than years of farming at a 0.5% chance

3

Remember the Reins of the Quantum Courser — while farming the Dawn of the Infinite dungeon, you can randomly get the Mechagon Peacekeeper through the spell_tailor_mountspeedup01Reins of the Quantum Courser

4

Farm on mobile classes — demon hunters, druids, and monks handle the HK-8 mechanic far more easily thanks to high movement speed

5

Don't clear the Workshop — to obtain the mount, it is enough to kill only the first four bosses in the Junkyard wing. Save time by not entering the lower part of the dungeon
