Overview

X-995 Mechanocat

Game iconX-995 Mechanocat is a ground mount in the shape of a mechanical cat. The mount is crafted through the Junkyard Tinkering system on the island of Mechagon using the robot Pascal-K1N6 after learning the corresponding blueprint.

The X-995 Mechanocat is a fully customizable mount. You can repaint it in one of eight colors by visiting Marvelous Martini at Bondo's Yard.

Why You Want This Mount

  • Guaranteed acquisition — the mount is obtained through crafting. There is no random drop: gather the materials, craft the item, and add the mount to your collection
  • Unique customization — this is one of the few mounts in the game with eight color options. You can change the color at any time by visiting a special NPC
  • Accessibility — the blueprint costs just 500 gold, and the crafting materials are gathered on the island of Mechagon during normal gameplay
  • Achievement — collecting all color variants unlocks the achievement Available in Eight Colors, which rewards a unique ninth color, "Beaten-Up Blue"
  • Available to all characters — once learned, the mount becomes available on every character on your account

How to Obtain

To craft the mount you need to complete several steps: gain access to the island of Mechagon, buy the blueprint, and gather the crafting materials.

  1. Unlock access to the island of Mechagon by completing the introductory quest chain
  2. Make your way to Bondo's Yard — the junkyard on the southern part of the island
  3. Buy the Game iconBlueprint: Mechanocat Laser Pointer from the NPC Cork Stuttguard for 500 gold. The purchase requires Friendly reputation with the Rustbolt Resistance faction
  4. Load the blueprint into the robot Pascal-K1N6 in the settlement of Rustbolt
  5. Gather the required materials (see the table below)
  6. Return to Pascal-K1N6 and craft the Game iconMechanocat Laser Pointer
  7. Use the item to learn the X-995 Mechanocat mount

Crafting Materials

S.P.A.R.E. Crate 8 Crafted from 250 Spare Parts at Pascal-K1N6. Spare Parts drop from mobs, chests, item scrapping, and fishing on Mechagon
Energy Cell 5 Looted on the island of Mechagon or charged from empty cells at the charging station at Bondo's Yard
Chain Igniter 4 Drops from rare enemies on Mechagon. Also rewarded by the quests "The Hunt" and "Recycling!"

How to Reach the Island of Mechagon

Mechagon is an island off the northern coast of Kul Tiras, added in patch 8.2. A first visit requires completing the introductory quest chain.

Requirements

  • A character of level 10 or higher
  • For characters below level 50 — activate the Battle for Azeroth timeline through Chromie in your faction's capital

First Visit (Alliance)

  1. Arrive in Boralus Harbor
  2. Pick up the quest The Legend of Mechagon from Tinkmaster Negotius near the flight master
  3. Follow the quest chain, which will lead you to the island of Mechagon
  4. Complete the introductory tasks in Rustbolt to unlock daily quests and world quests

First Visit (Horde)

  1. Arrive in Dazar'alor
  2. Pick up the quest The Legend of Mechagon from the equivalent NPC
  3. Follow the quest chain to the island of Mechagon
  4. Complete the introductory tasks in Rustbolt

Quick Access (After Unlocking)

Once you have completed the introductory chain, use one of these methods:

  • The portal to Mechagon that appears in Boralus Harbor (Alliance) or Dazar'alor (Horde)
  • The flight master — the Mechagon flight point becomes available after unlocking the island
  • Ultrasafe Transporter to Mechagon — an item crafted through Junkyard Tinkering

Customization: Mechanocat Colors

One of the mount's main features is the ability to change its color. To do so, you need to find paint vials on Mechagon and bring them to Marvelous Martini at Bondo's Yard. After loading the paint, you can switch the mount's color at any time.

Color Source
Standard Black Available immediately after crafting the mount
Mechagon Gold Drops from the rare mob Armored Vaultbot
Fire Engine Red Drops from the rare mob Crazed Trogg
Lemonade Steel Drops from the rare mob The Scrap King
Beefy Bronze Drops from the rare mob Rumblerocks
Rich Copper Reward from the Rustbolt Resistance paragon cache
Overcharged Orange Drops from the rare mob Boggac Skullbash
Tainted Mint Drops from the rare mob Crazed Trogg
Beaten-Up Blue Reward for the achievement Available in Eight Colors (collect all other colors)

Tips

1

Start with reputation — Friendly reputation with the Rustbolt Resistance is enough to buy the blueprint, which can be reached within a few days of doing daily quests on Mechagon

2

Spare Parts add up fast — kill mobs, open chests, and scrap unwanted items on Mechagon. You need 2,000 Spare Parts for 8 S.P.A.R.E. Crates, but with active farming this takes one or two play sessions

3

Chain Igniters are the rarest material — they drop from rare enemies on Mechagon with a small chance. Check the map for rare mobs daily. Since patch 8.2.5 they can also be crafted

4

The charging station isn't always available — the charging station at Bondo's Yard only works when the corresponding project is active. If it's unavailable, gather charged Energy Cells directly from rare mobs and chests

5

Customization paints are a nice bonus — don't spend time farming paints on purpose. They will drop naturally while you play on Mechagon. Once you collect all seven, you get the eighth color as a bonus

6

Fishing on Mechagon is useful — you can fish Spare Parts and even empty Energy Cells out of Mechagon's waters, combining fishing leveling with material gathering

7

It's easier at max level — at level 80 the mobs on Mechagon die instantly, and all rare enemies are easily soloed. The whole process of obtaining the mount takes anywhere from a few days to a week
