Modgud's Blade is a one-handed dagger of rare quality, despite the word "blade" in its name: its in-game item type is precisely a dagger, and it can be equipped in any of the melee weapon slots available to classes that use daggers. It's a short blade with a dark hilt and a distinctive dwarven silhouette, rendered in a gloomy gray-steel palette with no bright effects or glow.

The item is rooted in the Grim Batol dungeon and first appeared in the Cataclysm expansion. The specific version with identifier 133283 is a scaling variant of the dagger that drops when running Grim Batol through the Cataclysm Timewalking, so its item level and character level requirement adjust to the mode.

The name harks back to a grim page in Azeroth's history. Modgud was a dark sorceress of the Dark Iron clan, wife of the sorcerer-thane Thaurissan. During the War of the Three Hammers she led the Dark Iron forces against the fortress of Grim Batol and laid a curse upon it, summoning shadows from beneath the earth. The sorceress fell in battle against the Wildhammer clan, but her curse rendered the fortress forever uninhabitable. The blade that bears her name is a grim souvenir of those events.

You can get there via the portal network: from the capital city of the current expansion take a portal to the Eastern Kingdoms, then make your way to Twilight Highlands. An alternative is to fly from the nearest highlands flight point straight to the entrance point.

Killing General Umbriss grants the Umbriss Garrote achievement if you meet its special combat condition — a nice bonus to the appearance farm itself.

Modgud's Blade has no color recolors in the usual sense, but the very same appearance model exists in several item versions tied to different modes and eras of the dungeon. Any of them unlocks the same look in your transmog collection.
