Mosshide Riverwallow

Mosshide Riverwallow is a ground mount river beast added in the Warlords of Draenor expansion. It looks like a massive green river creature resembling a hippo with a mossy hide and a distinctive saddle. The mount is obtained by purchasing it from a special vendor in Ashran — not through reputation, a raid, or an achievement, but for a combination of gold and the currency of the previous expansion.

In patch 11.1 (The War Within, Season 2) the mount remains fully available: the vendors stand in their usual spots, and Apexis Crystals still drop from Draenor mobs and quests. This makes the Riverwallow one of the most reliable "guaranteed" mounts — there is no drop chance and no need to compete with other players over the corpse of a rare elite mob.

• Guaranteed acquisition. Unlike mounts with a percentage drop chance, the result here is predictable: gather the currency and claim the mount.
• Unique model. A river-beast variant with a green mossy hide is rare to come by: it is one of the few "hippos" in the collection.
• Counts toward achievements. The mount adds to the overall counter for "full collection"-type achievements and unlocks ranks of rewards for the number of mounts owned.
• No reputation required. Among the Ashran vendors this is the only mount sold to both the Alliance and the Horde with no faction reputation requirements with the Draenor factions.
• A great entry point into Draenor farming. On your way to 5,000 crystals you will simultaneously knock out plenty of the expansion's quests and achievements.

• Character level: 10 and above (at level 80 there are no restrictions).
• Riding skill: Apprentice Riding (a regular ground mount).
• Faction: any — the Alliance and the Horde each have their own vendor.
• Currency: 50,000 gold + 5,000 Apexis Crystals.
• Reputation: not required.
• How to reach Ashran: through the portal in your faction's capital (Stormwind for the Alliance, Orgrimmar for the Horde) — both cities have a pavilion with portals to the Draenor zones and directly to Ashran.

1. Prepare your gold. Gather at least 50,000 gold. At level 80 this is an amount easily accumulated over a few days of weekly quests, selling profession materials, or soloing old raids.
2. Unlock Draenor. If you haven't been to Draenor yet, pick up the introductory quest from Archmage Khadgar in Stormwind (Alliance) or Lady Liadrin in Orgrimmar (Horde). Complete the chain until you receive your garrison — it grants access to daily quests that reward Apexis.
3. Farm Apexis Crystals. The main sources are: daily quests in Tanaan Jungle, the Ashran weekly tasks, rare mobs across Draenor, bonus objectives in the 6.0 zones, and quests in the garrison (Town Hall).
4. Gather 5,000 crystals. On average, collecting them takes from 3–5 days of active farming to several weeks of leisurely play in the background.
5. Fly to Ashran. Portal in the capital → Ashran zone → your faction base (Stormshield for the Alliance, Warspear for the Horde).
6. Find the vendor. Dawn-Seeker Krek/Alkset stands by the shared area with the mount vendors. All the "Dawn-Seekers" sell mounts; the one we need is specifically this one.
7. Buy the mount. Find the "Mosshide Riverwallow" item in the list of goods. After purchasing, use the item from your bags — the mount is added to your collection forever and across all characters on the account.

• Tanaan Jungle dailies. The most consistent source — 800–1,000 crystals per solo quest, up to 1,000 for a group one. Combined with the garrison Town Hall quests, you can realistically gather 3,000–5,000 crystals per day with active play.
• Draenor bonus objectives. Each zone (Frostfire Ridge, Gorgrond, Nagrand, Spires of Arak, Talador, Shadowmoon Valley) has rotating bonus objectives that grant Apexis.
• The "Apexis Empowerment" event. During the week with the "Apexis Assault" event, a buff is active that increases crystal gains from creatures by 100–200% — save your farming for this week and reap double the benefit.
• Rare mobs. Elite rares in Tanaan drop maps containing crystals that can be exchanged for the currency.
• The garrison as a base. Level up your Town Hall to at least level 3: the Town Hall daily missions grant Apexis without your direct involvement — you send out followers and collect the reward after 4–8 hours.
• Treasure chests. Chests are scattered all over Draenor, and many contain crystals. Buy the "Treasure Guide" from the garrison vendor — it highlights them on the map.
