Deathtusk Felboar
Overview

Deathtusk Felboar is a massive boar from Tanaan Jungle, clad in green-and-red Horde armor with distinctive spikes and metal plates on its tusks. The mount is ground transport only (it cannot swim or fly), so it is most convenient in old content and in zones where flying is disabled.
Key Facts
- Type: ground mount.
- Faction: Horde only. The Alliance counterpart has the same name but is sold by a different vendor and requires a different reputation.
- Expansion: Warlords of Draenor, patch 6.2.
- Binding: account-wide (available to all Horde characters once purchased at least once).
Why You Want This Mount
Deathtusk Felboar is one of the most recognizable "Horde" mounts of the Draenor era. It is worth the time for three reasons:
- Unique visual model. The heavy armor, war paint and tusk-attack animation make the boar stand out in cities and in combat situations.
- +1 to your mount counter. The collection counts toward the "Leading the Cavalry", "Stable Master" achievement series and unlocks reward mounts at 250, 300, 400 and more.
- Completing reputation with the Vol'jin's Headhunters faction. On the way to Exalted you will earn toys, armor transmog and garrison followers, which is useful for other collection achievements.
Requirements
Before heading to the vendor, make sure your character meets every condition:
- The character belongs to the Horde (an identical mount with a different reputation exists for the Alliance).
- Riding skill: "Apprentice Riding" or higher (the mount is ground-based, its speed scales with your riding level).
- Reputation: Exalted with the Vol'jin's Headhunters.
- Access to Tanaan Jungle: the intro quest chain at the Lar'ontar outpost has been completed (added automatically once you reach garrison level 3 in Draenor and finish the patch 6.2 prologue).
- Gold for the purchase: roughly 2,000 gold at Exalted (the faction discount is already included).
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1. Unlock Tanaan Jungle. If you have never visited this zone, head to your garrison in Draenor, talk to Vaal Bloodtalon (for the Horde) and accept the patch 6.2 prologue. After a short story chain, a portal and the Lar'ontar outpost will open up.
Step 2. Build standing with the Vol'jin's Headhunters faction. Each day, complete:
- Three rotating tasks at the Lar'ontar outpost (taken from the notice board).
- The Tanaan Jungle campaign, while it still grants experience and reputation.
- The "Furious Invaders" group events and "mini-raids" such as Fangripper, Burning Eye and Terrok — boss kills award large reputation packets.
Step 3. Keep an eye on your supply of "Vol'jin's Token" items that drop from the mini-raids. Each token, when turned in at the outpost, grants 250 reputation and speeds up the path to Exalted.
Step 4. Once you reach Exalted, travel to Vol'mar — the main Horde camp in Tanaan Jungle. Make your way to Shadow Hunter Denjai, who stands by the boar pen.
Step 5. Open the "Special Goods" tab in the vendor's menu and buy the "Deathtusk Felboar" item for gold. After the purchase, right-click the item in your bags — the mount will be added to your collection and become available to all Horde characters on the account.
Optimization
To shorten the path to the mount:
- Use the "Scouting" banner in the garrison before heading into Tanaan: it grants +20% reputation for an hour.
- Before turning in a large batch of tokens, activate the "Scroll of Experience and Reputation" buff from the Trading Post.
- If the account already has a Horde character at Exalted with the Vol'jin's Headhunters, you only need to bring any character to the vendor — reputation is counted per character, but the gold and the trip to Vol'mar are individual for each.
- Team up with other players on Tanaan group quests: the bosses Fangripper, Burning Eye and Deladrin grant reputation to the whole group.
- At level 80, almost all Draenor content scales down — you can solo the bosses and quickly close out the reputation tokens you need.
Tips and Notes
- The mount is ground-based; do not use it where flight is required; at modern levels it is better to choose flying alternatives outside Draenor zones.
- Do not confuse the Deathtusk Felboar with its Alliance counterpart: the models are similar, but each is locked behind the opposite faction.
- A rarer unbarded version exists — the "Unarmored Deathtusk Felboar" — which arrives by mail from the vendor with a small chance on purchase. If you are a collector, keep the letter.
- After obtaining the mount it makes sense to keep turning in reputation tokens for the "Headhunters" achievement, which counts toward your overall reputation progress.
- Always check Shadow Hunter Denjai's current coordinates with the /target command if you cannot spot him by eye: Vol'mar has many NPCs of similar appearance.
