Reins of the Contained Stormarion Defender

Reins of the Contained Stormarion Defender is a flying mount added in the Midnight expansion (patch 12.0.1).

The mount drops from reward caches earned for taking part in the Stormarion Assault world event in the Void Storm zone. It binds when picked up and unlocks account-wide.

The mount can drop from two caches you receive for completing the "Stormarion Assault" world quest:

• Victorious Stormarion Pinnacle Cache — awarded for the first weekly completion (epic quality)
• Victorious Stormarion Cache — awarded for the second weekly completion (rare quality)

This means each character can get two attempts per week. The more max-level characters you have, the higher your chances of getting the mount.

The exact drop rate has not been disclosed by the developers. According to player reports, the chance is low — some managed to get the mount on the first try, while others needed 15–20 or more attempts.

Mechanics

Stormarion Assault is a tower-defense world event. Your task is to repel three waves of enemies from the Devouring Host without letting the Singularity Anchor at the center of the arena be destroyed.

The event consists of three phases:

1. First wave — lasts about 3 minutes. Relatively easy enemies.
2. Second wave — the difficulty rises, more dangerous foes appear.
3. Third wave — the final onslaught with the strongest enemies.

Between waves there are 30-second breaks, during which you can build defensive structures.

Defensive Structures

Construction uses Stormarion cores, which can be picked up around the event area and obtained from chests. Each structure costs 10 cores. Available constructions include:

• Barriers that slow the enemies' advance
• Traps that deal damage to approaching foes
• Explosive devices to destroy groups of enemies

Additional defensive options can be purchased from the vendor Xy'dax.

Requirements

• Arrive before the event begins. The world quest only credits progress to those who participate from the very start. If you join in the middle of a wave, completion may not count.
• Character level — 90. The event is designed for max-level characters of the Midnight expansion.

Recommendations

• Use the group finder. The event can prove difficult solo or with few participants. It is recommended to find a group through the built-in group finder tool.
• Protect the Singularity Anchor. If its health drops to zero, the event fails and you receive no reward.
• Build defensive structures during the breaks. Well-placed traps and barriers will make the run significantly easier.
• Create several characters. Two caches per week on each character is the main way to increase your number of attempts.
• Watch the timer. The event starts every 30 minutes. Plan your arrival in advance.
