Dusty Rockhide
Overview

Dusty Rockhide is a ground mount in the form of a light sandy-colored elekk, available only to Alliance players. The mount was added in the Warlords of Draenor expansion (patch 6.0.2) and is sold by the quartermaster of the Council of Exarchs faction. To buy the elekk, you need to reach Exalted reputation with this faction and have 5,000 gold and 5,000 Apexis Crystals on hand.
In 2026, already in the current patch 11.1 (The War Within, Season 2), the way to obtain it has not changed: the mount is still purchased from Vindicator Nuurem in Stormshield, the Alliance capital in Draenor. It is an excellent choice for collectors who want to quickly close out the WoD faction and earn the title "Prelate" along the way.
Why You Want This Mount
- A unique elekk model in a dusty-gray color, different from the standard Draenei elekks.
- The mount is account-bound, so all your Alliance characters can use it.
- Along with the mount, you earn the Council of Exarchs achievement and the title "Prelate."
- A good starting point for collecting the entire Draenor mount collection and subsequent achievements such as Lord of the Reins.
- The reputation is farmed without daily quests, so the whole process can be done over a few evenings.
Requirements and How to Get There
To obtain the Dusty Rockhide, make sure you meet the following conditions:
- An Alliance character of any level (we recommend level 80 for comfortable clearing of Draenor).
- Riding skill — Apprentice (minimum).
- Garrison unlocked and the starting Warlords of Draenor campaign chain completed.
- Exalted reputation with the Council of Exarchs faction.
- 5,000 gold and 5,000 Apexis Crystals in your bags.
The easiest way to get to Draenor in 2026 is through the portal in Stormwind (the portal mages' hall) or via the "Chromie Time" interface — you select the Warlords of Draenor timeline.
Step-by-Step Guide
- Fly to Draenor. Use the portal from Stormwind to the Alliance garrison or open the WoD timeline through "Chromie Time." Level up your garrison to at least level 2 to unlock access to the faction quartermaster.
- Complete the Shadowmoon Valley and Talador story chains. The story and bonus quests of these zones grant most of the reputation with the Council of Exarchs.
- Close out the bonus objectives. Each bonus objective grants 500–750 reputation. The bonus areas near Karak and the Vanguard of Karabor are especially profitable.
- Finish off the reputation at elite spots. The best farming locations:
- Socrethar's Rise in Shadowmoon Valley — about 5,000 reputation per hour without bonuses.
- The Pillars of Fate — elites in the portals grant 16 reputation per kill.
- Darktide Roost — an alternative spot for those who dislike crowds.
- Drop by Ashran. In Stormshield, find the town hall and head up to the faction quartermaster — Vindicator Nuurem.
- Buy the mount. From his stock, choose
Dusty Rockhide for 5,000 gold and 5,000 Apexis Crystals. Use the item — the mount will be added to the collection for the entire account.
Farm Optimization
- Garrison bodyguard. Take any bodyguard (Delvar Ironfist, Tormmok, etc.) and raise them to rank 3 — it doubles the reputation gain with Draenor factions.
- Banner of Coordination. Place a Banner of Coordination at the farming spot — +10% to reputation gained for 15 minutes.
- Level 3 Trading Post. Boosts the reward for killing rare creatures, including reputation.
- Scouting reports. Buy them from the garrison quartermaster: when used in the right zone, they increase both your Apexis and reputation income.
- Stockpile Apexis in advance. The daily quests from the garrison board grant 800–1,000 crystals at a time, so 5,000 is realistically gathered in 3–4 days.
- Don't rush to turn in quests. If you have a reputation buff (for example, from the "Vengeful Pie" food or holiday events), turn in your chains specifically under it.
Tips
1
The mount is account-bound, but the reputation itself must be earned only by an Alliance character — the Horde has no access to the Council of Exarchs.
2
If you have already played through Warlords of Draenor, check your reputation level in the faction window: there is often already 10,000–15,000 accumulated from leveling days.
3
Buying the mount automatically unlocks the "Council of Exarchs" achievement and grants the title "Prelate," which looks great on Draenei characters.
4
Alongside the reputation, you can farm unique blacksmithing and jewelcrafting recipes sold by the same quartermaster.
5
Before heading to the vendor, make sure you have a free bag slot — the mount appears as an item and must be used manually.
