Minion of Grumpus

Minion of Grumpus is a ground mount that looks like a tiny, grumpy yeti in a festive hat. Source: a rare drop from the Savage Gift item, which is bought from the NPC Izzy Hollyfizzle in your Draenor garrison during the Feast of Winter Veil holiday. The event runs every year from December 16 to January 2.

The Minion of Grumpus is a rare collectible mount with a limited availability window: you can only farm it three weeks a year. The yeti looks great in wintry zones, fits a themed character look perfectly in December, and will be a prized find for collectors. On top of that, every attempt to open a Savage Gift hands you a pile of other holiday rewards, which makes the farm enjoyable and worthwhile even without landing the mount.

To get the mount you'll need a level 3 Draenor garrison (unlocked after completing the quest chain in Frostfire Ridge or Shadowmoon Valley). Your character level should be at least 40, though at level 90 the quests go faster. A mandatory condition is an active Feast of Winter Veil (mid-December to early January). Flying in Draenor isn't required for comfortable farming, but it helps.

1. Wait for the Feast of Winter Veil to start (it usually begins on December 16).

2. Make sure your Draenor garrison has reached level 3 — otherwise Izzy Hollyfizzle won't appear.

3. Visit the garrison and find Izzy Hollyfizzle, the holiday events coordinator. She hands out four daily quests.

4. Complete all four daily quests, including the group quest 'Grumpus' in Frostfire Ridge — each one rewards Merry Supplies.

5. Gather 5 Merry Supplies and buy a Savage Gift from Izzy.

6. Open the gift: the mount can drop with a small chance, and alongside it you're guaranteed other holiday items.

7. Repeat the cycle every day until the holiday ends. If the mount didn't drop this year — try again next season.

To maximize the number of attempts per season, complete Izzy Hollyfizzle's daily quests on several characters — the supplies are character-bound, but the Savage Gifts and the dropped mount only bind on use.

The longest task is the group quest 'Grumpus' on the boss Grumpus in Frostfire Ridge (coordinates ~45,27): put a group together in advance or join raids through the group finder.

Don't skip days: over the 18 days of the holiday it's realistic to open 18+ gifts on a single character and dozens across several alts.

• Don't confuse the Savage Gift with the regular holiday gifts under the tree in capital cities — the mount only drops from Izzy's Savage Gift.
• Don't put off the farm to the last days: the holiday ends precisely on January 2, and you might run out of time.
• Check your garrison — if it's below level 3, level it up quickly before the event begins.
• The mount can be bought at the auction house as an already-opened cage from other players — an option for the impatient.

And remember: this is a seasonal rare mount, so persistence and consistency are your main allies.
