Get Red Primal Raptor mount

The Red Primal Raptor is a ground mount shaped like a bright-red predatory raptor, introduced in Patch 5.2 "The Thunder King". The mount comes from the Cracked Primal Egg, which hatches three days after you obtain a Primal Egg from the dinosaurs on the Isle of Giants in Pandaria.

The mount belongs to a family of three raptors — red, green, and black. All three hatch from the same egg at random, so any single color accounts for roughly a third of all hatched eggs.

• A bright, recognizable model. The red raptor with its crest and claws stands out at camps and in cities, especially against the crowds of drakes and seasonal mounts.
• Part of a three-raptor collection. By farming a single egg you progress toward three entries on your mount counter at once: red, green, and black.
• Achievement progress. Every raptor you obtain counts toward achievements and toward the 400/500 mount thresholds that unlock new rewards.
• Solo farming with no restrictions. The Isle of Giants requires no raid, group, or reputation — it's a "quiet" source you can drop into between other activities.
• Nostalgic content. This Mists of Pandaria location remains one of the most atmospheric zones ever built around dinosaur hunting.

To make the farm enjoyable, you'll need:

• A level 90 character with any seasonal gear — even fresh ilvl is enough; the dinosaurs die in a few hits at level 90.
• Standard riding skill so you can move across the island on the ground.
• A free bag slot. The egg is unique: while you hold it, a second one won't drop, and you need to keep it for three real-world days.
• Access to Pandaria. Through the portal network from the capitals or from the Timeless Isle.
• How to get there: The Isle of Giants lies north of the Kun-Lai Summit. Fly to the northern coast of Kun-Lai (for example, to Zouchin Village) and ride a flying mount due north — the island appears on the map as a separate landmass. An alternative is the portal from the Timeless Isle if you have it unlocked.

Important: the raptor color from the cracked egg is random, and the same color can come several times in a row. Collecting all three colors takes 5–9 eggs on average.

Step 1. Prepare Your Character

1. Make sure your hero is level 90 with at least basic seasonal gear — that's more than enough for the dinosaurs of the Isle of Giants.
2. Free up a bag slot for the egg: it will occupy that slot for three days and must not accidentally end up in a guild bank or the warband bank.
3. Bring a hearthstone set to any fast-travel hub — the farm lasts from one to several hours, so taking breaks is convenient.

Step 2. Reach the Isle of Giants

1. Travel to Pandaria via the portal network (from Stormwind, Orgrimmar, or the Timeless Isle).
2. Fly to the north of the Kun-Lai Summit — the Zouchin Village or Binan Village flight points work fine.
3. Summon a flying mount and fly due north over the ocean. After a minute you'll see the misty mass of the Isle of Giants.

Step 3. Choose a Farming Area

1. At level 90 it's easiest to circle between the Primal Raptors and the Primal Devilsaurs — they're large, and their egg chance is higher.
2. A typical route: the island's central plain → the northwest coast → the southern hill. All three areas teem with elites that respawn in 1–2 minutes.
3. If you like, gather Giant Dinosaur Bone along the way — it drops from nearly every mob and is needed for the dinosaur-bone quests on the island.

Step 4. Farm Until Your First Egg

1. Kill the dinosaurs one after another, not skipping the large specimens. Check each for loot — the egg icon stands out with its distinctive green gradient.
2. A single Primal Egg takes 30–90 minutes of active farming on average, depending on RNG.
3. As soon as an egg drops, you can stop farming: the item's unique property won't let you pick up a second one before the first hatches.

Step 5. Wait for Incubation

1. Leave the egg in your bag and do whatever you like in the game: it "matures" in real time, even while you're offline.
2. After three real-world days the egg turns into a Cracked Primal Egg.
3. Use the item — with a guaranteed 100% chance you'll get one of three raptors: black, red, or green.

Step 6. Repeat If Needed

1. If a color other than red hatches, don't be upset — you still added a mount to your collection.
2. Return to the island and farm the next egg. After the first time the process goes faster: you already know the optimal route.
3. Getting the red one specifically takes 2–4 eggs on average, or up to 8–10 in the worst case.

• Hit only the large ones. Juveniles give a lower egg chance and take the same amount of time — at level 90 this isn't critical for damage, but it heavily affects your eggs-per-hour KPI.
• Keep only one egg in your bag. The item is unique, so while you hold an egg the next one won't drop — use the waiting time for other mounts, old-world raids, or professions.
• Multiple characters — multiple eggs at once. The egg is unique per character, so three heroes can carry three eggs in parallel and get three mounts on the same timer.
• Turn off War Mode. There are almost no competitors on the island, and turning it off minimizes the chance of a skirmish.
• Listen to podcasts. The farm is monotonous but relaxing: at low level the mobs fall in one or two hits, and you only need to pay attention to loot.
