Stormcrow

Stormcrow is a flying raven mount whose model first appeared in the World of Warcraft client files back in patch 5.4 "Siege of Orgrimmar" (Mists of Pandaria). The item was found through datamining, but it never made it to the live servers of that original patch. Only years later, in patch 11.0.7 of The War Within, did Blizzard bring the model to life as a new mount — Thrayir, Eyes of the Siren. Today, in Midnight, it is the only way to add this storm raven to your collection.

Visually, you ride atop a massive black raven whose feathers literally crackle with bolts of lightning. The model is large in scale, recognizable from a distance, and looks right at home both above the Isle of Dorn and in the skies of Dornogal.

• A striking, instantly recognizable storm raven model with lightning-discharge animations — a rare sight even among flying mounts.
• Counts toward mount-collection achievements and brings you closer to collector rewards.
• The item's history is unique: this is one of the few cases where a model waited more than a decade for release and still made it into players' hands.
• Acquiring it requires no high-end raids or arena — all of your progress is tied to solo and small-group content on Siren Isle.
• The reward is considered relatively rare: noticeably fewer players own it than the mass-produced mounts from The War Within seasonal rewards.

To obtain the mount you will need:

• A level 90 character on an active Midnight subscription.
• Siren Isle unlocked — the starting quest is picked up from Dawn in the Foundation Hall in Dornogal.
• The Seafury Tempest storm phase opened — to enter it, you must complete one of the island's elite weekly quests at least once per week: Legacy of the Vrykul, Tides of Greed, or Serpent's Wrath.
• Flight on Siren Isle — in The War Within, dynamic flight and regular flight are enabled automatically as you progress through the campaign.
• Roughly 2–4 hours to gather all five runekeys in a favorable case, and up to 10–15 hours with bad luck on the rare drops.

Step 1. Unlock Siren Isle

Head to the Foundation Hall in Dornogal and pick up the starting quest chain from Dawn. Complete it to the end — afterward, a travel point to Siren Isle appears on the Khaz Algar map, and the daily and weekly quests open up in the town of Flotsam Shoal.

Step 2. Open the Seafury Tempest Phase

In the Siren Isle weekly quest menu, take and complete one of the three elite quests:

• Legacy of the Vrykul;
• Tides of Greed;
• Serpent's Wrath.

After you turn in the reward, you can enter the storm phase for the rest of the current game period. The phase is toggled by Suzie Boltwrench in Flotsam Shoal (around coordinates 69, 49). It is in the storm version of the island that all the rares, chests, and crystals tied to the keys appear.

Step 3. Collect the Whirling Runekey

In the storm phase, descend into the Forgotten Vault near the Deadfin Mire (around 38, 76) and kill the rare Ksvir the Forgotten. He is guaranteed to drop the Whirling Runekey. If the enemy has already been killed by another group, wait for the respawn or swap layers.

Step 4. Collect the Turbulent Runekey

This key is assembled from three Turbulent Fragments — small yellow crystals in the following spots of the storm phase:

• in a dirt pile by the ghost of a Kul Tiran near the old inn (around 38, 52);
• in the hands of a ghost in the Spirit Scarred Cave (around 52, 39);
• by a ghost in the Rotting Hole (around 67, 78).

After you pick up all three fragments, the key assembles automatically in your bags.

Step 5. Collect the Torrential Runekey

The Torrential Runekey is assembled from seven Torrential Fragments, which have a small chance to drop from any mob in the storm phase. The fastest way to farm them is on dense packs of vrykul and sea undead along the coast, as well as during island events.

Step 6. Collect the Thunderous Runekey

The Thunderous Runekey is crafted from five Thunderous Fragments that drop from special Runed Storm Caches. These chests appear only in the storm phase and are scattered all over the island — the easiest approach is to mark them with a treasure-tracking addon and fly a loop.

Step 7. Collect the Cyclonic Runekey

The Cyclonic Runekey drops from the rare elite Zek'ul the Shipbreaker in the Deadfin Mire. The chance to get the key directly from the boss is not 100%, but the key can also occasionally be fished up from the waters near his spawn, so it makes sense to cast a line between respawns.

Step 8. Revive Thrayir

With all five keys collected, return to the Forgotten Vault (entrance around 38, 52). In the eastern room you will see the sleeping raven Thrayir surrounded by five runestones. Activate each stone in turn with its matching key. After the last stone is activated, Thrayir awakens and offers you the quest "Thrayir, Eyes of the Siren" for a level 80 character. Turn it in and you receive the mount as a reward.

• Complete the weekly elite quest during the first days of the game week: this opens the storm phase for the whole week right away and gives you an extra resource toward weekly currencies.
• Combine farming Torrential Fragments with the island's daily quests: in a single loop you close out reputation, your wallet, and potentially several fragments at once.
• Plan a route between Runed Storm Caches in advance on the map — flying the optimal path saves up to 30% of the time on the Thunderous Runekey.
• With low FPS and a high player count, switch your game layer: on an empty layer the rares and chests respawn noticeably faster.
• If your flight skill is already high, use dynamic flight on a Siren Isle gryphon or dragon — looping the points will be far faster than regular flight.
