Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.

Trained Rocktusk is a war boar from the Warlords of Draenor era that the player earns after a series of quests in the Garrison Stables. The mount is a ground mount, uses Apprentice Riding, and unlocks at character level 17. In 2026, during Midnight, this mount remains available to grind and is still considered one of the most atmospheric "boar" steeds in the collection.
The rocktusk is a large armored boar with reddish bristles and distinctive tusks that resemble mountain stone. The model was created specifically for the stable quest series and appears only among the six Draenor mounts trained in the Stables.
Before you start the grind, make sure you have everything you need.
The Stables can be visited on any character; they are account-bound through the mount collection: once you earn the rocktusk, you unlock it for all of your characters.
The rocktusk chain consists of an initial capture and nine daily training sessions. It takes about 10 real days due to the daily cooldowns on the quests.
Head to your garrison, open the architect's table, and erect the Stables on a large plot. If the large plot is currently occupied by another building, demolish it — the Stables will be needed for at least 10–12 days.
Enter the Stables. The quest giver (Keegan Firebeard for the Alliance or Tormak the Scarred for the Horde) will hand out a series of six starter quests for different mounts. One of them — Besting a Boar — sends you to Gorgrond.
Fly to Gorgrond, to the Tangleheart area. You will have a Boar Snare equipped. Find a Young Rocktusk, use the snare on it, and follow it until it tires out. Then interact with it — the quest is credited, and the apprentice boar appears in your Stables.
Each day, return to the quest giver at the Stables and pick up the next training quest. You mount the apprentice boar and complete a combat task. The quest list:
The order may differ from this list — the game hands out quests in a random sequence. In total, you need to complete 9 training days.
On the tenth day, you will be offered the quest Boar Training: The Garn. Fly to Nagrand, to the lair of Maimclaw — a lone garn in the northern part of the zone. Fight it without dismounting from the apprentice boar. The fight lasts about 1–2 minutes, with no special mechanics — the main thing is to stay mounted and use the abilities from the boar's bar.
After the victory, turn in the quest at the Stables and receive the
Trained Rocktusk and 50 garrison resources.
Don't dismantle the Stables until you earn the "Master of Mounts" achievement, otherwise you'll have to rebuild them and run the entire starter series again.
The training boar is a temporary mount; it will disappear from your bags after the final quest, so don't waste upgrades or cosmetics on it.
If the "Boar Training" quest hasn't appeared for some reason, check whether there was a quest from the quest giver that you missed the previous day — sometimes the chain is blocked until you turn it in.
The Trained Rocktusk looks great paired with dark-brown and red-toned Draenor armor — it emphasizes the mount's wild nature.
For players working on the Lord of the Reins achievement, the Stables chain grants six mounts in a couple of weeks — one of the best sources in the game by effort-to-mount ratio.
