Nathrian Assassin's Backbiter is an epic one-handed dagger that arrived in World of Warcraft alongside the Shadowlands expansion and its first raid, Castle Nathria. It is a light blade with a distinctive "Venthyr" silhouette: dark steel, forged spikes, and motifs of chains and bat wings. The model echoes the raid's theme — the grim aristocracy of Revendreth, blood, and the atonement of sins.

The dagger belongs to the weapons of the Venthyr Covenant. The special feature of all weapons from Castle Nathria is that each of the four covenants has its own appearance: Kyrian, Necrolords, Night Fae, and Venthyr receive blades styled after their own covenant rather than a shared raid set. The "Nathrian Assassin's Backbiter" is precisely the Venthyr variant of the dagger, crafted in the spirit of the castle-fortress and its bloody rites.

This is an agility melee weapon, so it suits rogues and demon hunters. For transmog collectors it is first and foremost a stylish, dark-gothic dagger that fits well into vampiric and aristocratic-themed sets.

The "Nathrian Assassin's Backbiter" cannot be looted directly from a boss — the dagger is bought from a vendor for a raid token. The scheme is two-step.

Step 1. Obtain the token. In Castle Nathria, bosses drop not the weapon itself but class anima-sphere tokens. The dagger is purchased for an Abominable Anima Spherule — this token drops from the raid's bosses (in particular, from the "Sun King's Salvation" encounter, where players rescue Kael'thas). The spherule binds to the character.

Step 2. Exchange the token at the vendor. The finished weapon is sold in Sinfall — the stronghold of the Venthyr Covenant, located in the Revendreth zone. Venthyr weapons are traded by Solivane. The stronghold's vendors and smiths stand in the north-eastern part of Sinfall's lower tier, near the point 73, 27. During the Chains of Domination campaign another stronghold keeper takes over the role of weapon vendor, but the gist of the exchange stays the same: one anima sphere — one item.
