Get Night Reaver
Overview

Night Reaver is a rare two-handed axe hailing from the classic era of World of Warcraft. It features a massive double-edged blade in a dark hue with a serrated edge and a heavy haft — a simple yet recognizable low-level barbarian axe silhouette.
This two-handed weapon suits every class capable of wielding two-handed axes: warriors, paladins, hunters, shamans, and death knights. Beyond its looks, the item has a thematic feature — a possible on-hit effect that strikes the enemy with
Shadow Bolt. This shadowy touch makes the axe a great pick for dark, gothic looks.
The item has existed in the game since the days of the original World of Warcraft and remains farmable as a transmog trophy from one of the earliest dungeons.
Source
Night Reaver drops from the elites in the Shadowfang Keep dungeon, located in Silverpine Forest — the first dungeon on the path of low-level Horde characters.
- The dungeon is intended for roughly levels 18–30, but at max level it is cleared solo in mere minutes — farming the appearance solo poses no difficulty whatsoever.
- The drop chance is relatively low, so make several runs if needed: entering the dungeon has no daily limit for a solo player.
- The item becomes soulbound on equip, but drops freely into your bag, so a character of any class can farm it.
Horde characters have the easiest access: the entrance to Shadowfang Keep lies in Silverpine Forest, north of the Sepulcher. Alliance characters have a slightly longer road, but the dungeon is available to both factions.
Who It Suits Visually
- It fits dark, shadowy looks well — the dark blade echoes the Shadow Bolt effect.
- It works with armor in dark gray and black tones: death knight, dark warrior, and barbarian rogue looks.
- It harmonizes with the rugged, utilitarian gear of low levels — a single "wild" style without excessive ornamentation.
- It contrasts with light or gilded armor — a debatable but striking choice for a "dark hero" look in bright plate.
Tips
Farm the axe at max level — the dungeon is cleared solo in a couple of minutes, and the Son of Arugal is summoned as the fight goes on.
Watch specifically for the elite worgen "Sons of Arugal": the appearance drops from them, not from the keep's regular inhabitants.
If the appearance doesn't drop on your first run, reset the dungeon and repeat — there are no limits on solo entry.
The axe suits all classes with two-handed axes, so almost any character can farm it for their appearance collection.
The entrance is easiest to find for a Horde character in Silverpine Forest — this shortens the trip to the farming spot.
