Malavita first discovered World of Warcraft in Draenor, but truly got into the game with the Shadowlands expansion. Has a soft spot for Demon Hunters and Mages. Considers her main goal to be collecting as many mounts as possible.

Observer's Umbral Shiv is an epic one-handed dagger added to World of Warcraft in the Shadowlands expansion alongside patch 9.2 and the final raid of the expansion. It is a light combat knife with a dark, narrow blade and a hilt in the cosmic "First Ones" style: a faceted grip, coal-black tones, and a barely visible glow along the edge. The model belongs to the Sepulcher of the First Ones raid weapon set and captures the grim, otherworldly aesthetic of the last chapter of Shadowlands well.
The item's main value lies precisely in its appearance. The dark "shadow" coloring makes the dagger a great choice for looks built around stealth, darkness, and the cosmic First Ones theme, without bright glows or flashy effects.
Observer's Umbral Shiv drops from the Sepulcher of the First Ones raid — the final raid dungeon of the Shadowlands expansion. The raid is located on a floating island to the east of the Zereth Mortis zone.
To reach the raid, you need to unlock the Zereth Mortis zone: this requires completing the Shadowlands campaign and progressing through the patch 9.2 story. Once the zone is unlocked, the raid entrance is on its eastern edge. Until flying is unlocked in Zereth Mortis, the island with the raid is reached via the Ancient Translocator — a network of teleports within the zone. Once flying is unlocked, the easiest way is to fly straight to the entrance.
The Sepulcher of the First Ones raid belongs to a past expansion, so at the current max level it is cleared by a small group, with most bosses soloable.
Rygelon is the second-to-last boss of the raid; you need to kill nine bosses before him. Check your route through the raid in advance so you do not waste time on unnecessary corridors.
The dagger's drop chance from Rygelon is around 21 %, but loot is limited to one run per week per character. If the appearance does not drop, it makes sense to farm the raid with several characters on the account.
For solo farming, durable self-healing specializations are convenient — for example, tank specializations and druids. The difficulty level does not affect the appearance, so pick the mode you can clear faster and more reliably.
Before the run, unlock Zereth Mortis and make sure the raid entrance is accessible: without the zone unlocked, you cannot reach the Sepulcher of the First Ones.
Besides the dagger, Rygelon also drops other raid-level gear — you can collect the rest of the First Ones set appearances along the way.
Once obtained, the appearance is saved to your account-wide wardrobe, so there is no need to farm it again on other characters.
If flying is not yet unlocked in Zereth Mortis, travel to the raid via the Ancient Translocator — it is faster than getting there on a ground mount.
