The Obsidian Gladiator's Slitherdrake could only be obtained during the active Dragonflight Season 2 (from May to November 2023). The conditions are fixed and the same for everyone:

1. Wait for the active phase of Dragonflight Season 2 (the stage is over, unavailable as of 2026)
2. Create or join a team for the rated 3v3 arena
3. Reach a rating of 2400 and above in the 3v3 bracket — this is the Elite rank threshold
4. While holding Elite rank, earn 50 wins in the rated 3v3 arena that season
5. Once the condition is met, the Gladiator: Dragonflight Season 2 achievement is awarded automatically. The mount arrives by mail

If you earn the mount during the season, claiming it also activates the personal achievement Obsidian Gladiator's Slitherdrake, which is displayed in the collection as a marker of owning this model.

Beyond the mount itself, Dragonflight Season 2 offered a range of related PvP rewards. All of them are tied to the same obsidian aesthetic.

Note: for the mount, Elite rank (2400+) and 50 wins are enough, whereas the title of the same name required reaching the top 0.1% of the arena and earning 150 wins — an entirely different difficulty threshold.

Even though the season is already over, the approach described remains relevant for subsequent gladiator seasons: the rating-climb mechanics in WoW do not change in structure.

Minimum gear requirements

• A full set of gear with PvP resilience from the season's combatant path
• A high-rated weapon from the Rival 1800+ achievement or higher
• An augment rune and potions for key matches
• Weapon sharpening and gear enchants of the current patch version

The key idea: reach 2400 rating once and hold it, playing strictly against equal or weaker teams. Dropping below 2400 does not void already-counted wins, but new wins stop counting until you return to Elite.

1. Climb to 2400 on a stable comp. The ideal time is the third or fourth week of the season, when the top players have already pushed their rating and matches become more realistic
2. Once you cross the 2400 threshold, a chat notification confirms entry into Elite rank
3. Keep playing 3v3. Every win at 2400+ starts dripping into the 50/50 counter
4. If you drop below 2400, don't panic — return, play in moderation, and don't burn out. The Dragonflight season lasted about 6 months
5. Upon reaching 50 wins, the mail with the mount and manuscript arrives automatically, plus the achievement and the Gladiator title activate

Common mistakes

• Playing solo instead of 3v3 — Shuffle wins do not count toward the gladiator achievement
• Trying to climb solo via group finder — at 2400+ you need permanent teammates
• Ignoring the current meta — patches 10.1.5 and 10.1.7 noticeably reshaped the balance. Guides on top comps need to be reread every two weeks
• Overheating: a losing streak can cost 100–150 rating. After two in a row it's better to take a break

The short answer is no. With the end of Dragonflight Season 2 (November 2023), the Gladiator: Dragonflight Season 2 achievement became unavailable and no longer grants the mount. As of now (Midnight, 2026), Blizzard does not return gladiator mounts of past seasons to the active pool.
