Get Obsidian Gravewing mount

Obsidian Gravewing is an epic flying mount added in patch 9.1 of the Shadowlands expansion. It is a dark winged creature from Revendreth belonging to the gravewing family. The mount is purchased from Chachi the Artiste in Sinfall for 7,500 Reservoir Anima once you reach renown level 70 with the Venthyr covenant.

In appearance, the Obsidian Gravewing is a massive winged creature with obsidian-black hide and crimson markings. Its description reads: "In the dark skies of Revendreth, you won't see these creatures until it's too late." The mount is part of the gravewing family alongside the Bronze Gravewing, the Pale Gravewing, the Sinfall Gravewing, and the Master's Gravewing.

To purchase the Obsidian Gravewing, you must meet two requirements: reach renown level 70 with the Venthyr covenant and save up 7,500 Reservoir Anima.

1. Head to Oribos and choose the Venthyr covenant if you are not already a member. Covenants are available to characters level 60 and above
2. Raise your renown with the Venthyr to level 70
3. Save up 7,500 Reservoir Anima
4. Head to Sinfall (Revendreth) and find Chachi the Artiste — the renown reward vendor
5. Purchase the Obsidian Gravewing and use the item to learn the mount
6. Optionally, reach renown 80 so the mount becomes available to characters of other covenants

Sinfall is the headquarters of the Venthyr covenant, located in Revendreth. Access opens after you join the covenant.

First Visit

1. Travel to Oribos, the central city of the Shadowlands. The portal to Oribos is available from your faction's capital (Stormwind or Orgrimmar)
2. Complete the Shadowlands campaign up to the covenant selection (level 60)
3. Choose the Venthyr — you will be automatically transported to Sinfall
4. Complete the covenant's introductory quests for full access to the buildings and vendors

Chachi the Artiste is located in the upper part of Sinfall, next to Renown Keeper Rachelle.

To purchase the Obsidian Gravewing, you must reach renown level 70. The maximum renown level is 80. The main sources are listed below.

Quick Start: Broker Mark of Distinction

If your account already has a character at renown level 80 with any covenant, purchase the Broker Mark of Distinction from Au'Dara on the upper tier of Oribos for 500 gold. Using it instantly raises your current covenant's renown to level 60. Then you only need to grind 10 more levels to reach 70.

Covenant Campaign (Main Source)

Completing chapters of the Venthyr campaign rewards one renown level per chapter. There are several chapters in the main campaign in total, plus the continuation in patches 9.1 and 9.2.

Weekly Quests

Two weekly quests each grant one renown level:

• Replenish the Reservoir — gather 1,000 anima from any source in the Shadowlands
• Return Lost Souls — rescue souls from the Maw

Callings (Assignments)

Daily callings from the covenant reward one renown level when the catch-up mechanic is active. Check the bulletin board in Sinfall.

Additional Sources

• Shadowlands dungeons — completing dungeons at Mythic difficulty and above has a chance to grant a renown level
• Raid bosses — killing Shadowlands raid bosses can reward a renown level
• Korthia and Zereth Mortis — the weekly quests in these zones grant renown
• Torghast — clearing high floors of Torghast (9–16) rewards renown
• Rated PvP — wins in rated battlegrounds grant renown

Accelerated Leveling

The renown catch-up mechanic works as follows: if your renown level is below the current maximum, almost any activity in the Shadowlands begins granting renown with a high chance. At max character level in The War Within, you will earn renown very quickly.

Reservoir Anima is the currency of the Shadowlands covenants. It is stored in the anima reservoir in Sinfall. The main sources are:

• World quests — every quest in Revendreth and the other Shadowlands zones rewards anima items (35–250 units per quest)
• Callings — daily covenant assignments grant a substantial amount of anima
• Dungeons and raids — bosses drop anima items
• Korthia and Zereth Mortis — world quests and rare enemies in these zones grant anima
• Covenant campaign — campaign quests reward anima
• Command table missions — send your companions on missions for anima

At max level with active farming, 7,500 anima can be gathered in a few hours of play. Don't forget to deposit the anima items (tokens) you receive into the covenant reservoir — they are not consumed automatically.

Step-by-Step Plan

At max level, all Shadowlands content is completed instantly. The optimal order of operations:

1. If your account has a character at renown 80, buy the Broker Mark of Distinction and instantly gain renown 60
2. Complete all available chapters of the Venthyr campaign — each chapter grants a renown level
3. Complete the weekly quests "Replenish the Reservoir" and "Return Lost Souls"
4. Pick up all callings from the bulletin board in Sinfall
5. Run the world quests in Revendreth to obtain anima
6. If needed, run Shadowlands dungeons — bosses grant both renown and anima

How Long It Will Take

Using the Broker Mark of Distinction (renown 60 right away), you only need to gain 10 more levels. With the catch-up mechanic, this takes 1–2 play sessions. Without the Mark of Distinction, starting from zero, expect 1–2 weeks of regular play.

After reaching renown 70 and buying the mount, we recommend reaching renown 80 to lift the covenant restriction and unlock the mount for all characters on the account.
