Otto — How to Get the Secret Otter Mount in WoW

Otto is a secret mount shaped like an otter wearing sunglasses, added in patch 10.0.2 of the Dragonflight expansion. It is one of the most unique and charming mounts in the game — an ottuk on which your character rides across land and water. The in-game description reads: "Relax. The future will unfold as it was always meant to, one way or an-otter."

Otto is awarded for completing the quest The Way to Otto's Heart, and the entire chain involves fishing, hidden locations, and an underwater bar in The Waking Shores.

No quest chains are needed for access to Dragon Isles zones — all locations are open right away.

Step 1. Obtain a Gold Dragon Isles Coin

You need one Gold Dragon Isles Coin. This is a rare item that can be obtained in several ways:

Fishing in the Dragon Isles. Coins randomly appear while fishing in any body of water in the Dragon Isles. Copper Dragon Isles Coins are the most common, Silver Dragon Isles Coins are rarer, and gold coins are the rarest.

Exchanging at the Great Shellkhan. NPC Great Shellkhan is located in the Ohn'ahran Plains at:

Exchange rates:

• 15 copper coins = 1 silver coin
• 5 silver coins = 1 gold coin

Total for one gold coin: 1 gold coin directly, or 5 silver, or 75 copper.

Crab traps (fast method). On the Forbidden Reach, use an Elusive Croaking Crab near empty crab traps. Interacting with the trap spawns a rare NPC Sir Pinchalot, who drops coins. Trap coordinates:

Traps respawn every 5–10 minutes.

Step 2. Get the Water Goggles

Take the gold coin to the Great Shellkhan and purchase Immaculate Shellkhan Treasure Pouch. Open the pouch — inside you'll find Water Goggles guaranteed. This is a toy that's added to your collection.

Step 3. Dance in the Underwater Bar "Bubble Bath"

Head to The Waking Shores to the underwater bar "Bubble Bath," located north of the Obsidian Citadel:

Dive underwater and find a small 3x3 dance floor with glowing tiles. Then:

1. Use the Water Goggles from your toy collection — your character will gain the "Too Cool" buff
2. Stand on the dance floor
3. Start dancing with the /dance command
4. The "Dance 'Til You Drop" effect will appear, counting down 5 minutes
5. After 5 minutes, your character will pass out and be teleported to the Sizzling Grotto

In the grotto, an Empty Fish Barrel will appear next to you — pick it up.

Step 4. Fill the Barrel with Fish

Now you need to catch three types of fish in a specific order. The barrel automatically changes its name as you fill it.

Tip: Frigid Bottom Feeders are caught in regular water in the Azure Span, Calamitous Carp are caught in lava streams (you need to get close to the lava), and the Royal Fin is a rare catch that may take from a few casts to a couple dozen.

Step 5. Bring the Barrel to the Sizzling Grotto

When the barrel is overflowing, return to the Sizzling Grotto in The Waking Shores:

Place the Overflowing Fish Barrel on the ground. A hungry otter — Otto — will emerge from the cave. He will offer you the quest The Way to Otto's Heart. Accept and turn in the quest — the Otto mount will be added to your collection.

• Speed up coin collection. The crab trap method on the Forbidden Reach is the fastest way to get a gold coin. In 30–40 minutes of farming, you usually gather enough coins for exchange.

• Don't forget to wear goggles before dancing. Without the active "Too Cool" buff, the dance floor won't work, and you'll just dance for nothing.

• Fishing without leveling. All three types of fish can be caught even with minimal fishing skill — it just takes longer due to misses. If your skill is leveled to Dragon Isles level, misses practically disappear.

• Calamitous Carp from lava. The carp must be caught specifically in lava streams, not in regular water nearby. Get as close to the lava as possible and cast your line directly into it.

• All in one session. The full run from start to mount takes about 2–4 hours if you already have the gold coin. From scratch — 3 to 6 hours depending on luck with coins.

• Goggles on the mount. After getting Otto, try summoning it with the Water Goggles active — matching sunglasses will appear on the otter. Purely cosmetic, but looks great.
