Get Pathmaker

Overview

Первопроходец

Game iconPathmaker is a blue-quality two-handed mace from the Dragonflight expansion. It is a massive hammer with a heavy faceted head in the style of titan creations: cold stone, metal bindings and runes along the body. The look fits well into "titanic" and "dwarven" themes that call for a heavy striking weapon with a real sense of weight.

In terms of stats, this is a melee weapon for specializations that wield two-handed maces — warriors, death knights and paladins. For transmog, what matters is not the item's power but its appearance: the model stays relevant long after the item itself has fallen out of use stat-wise.

Game iconPathmaker has its own visual effect — Game iconGroundbreaker: every step slightly shakes the ground, and a jump can trigger a small tremor that slows nearby enemies. The effect is purely cosmetic and procs no more than once a minute, but it adds a distinctive "heavy" feel to the look.

Source

Pathmaker drops from a rare elite giant named Mahg the Trampler. This level 72 creature roams the The Azure Span zone in the northern part of the Dragon Isles continent.

  • Mahg the Trampler wanders the slopes around the coordinates /way #2024 36 36. The spawn point shifts a little, so scan the area in an arc roughly from 36, 35 to 37, 37.
  • This is a ground-based solo rare mob; no separate entrance or quest chain is required for access — you just need to unlock the The Azure Span zone over the course of the Dragonflight campaign.
  • The chance to get Pathmaker from this giant is high — around 72%, so one or two kills are usually enough.
  • The loot binds to your character on pickup, so the mace cannot be passed to another character — collect the appearance on whoever needs it.

The rare mob goes on cooldown after being killed and respawns after some time. If the giant is not there, switch to another copy of the zone via a group or the finder, or come back later.

Who It Suits Visually

  • Fits "titanic" armor sets with a gray-stone and bronze palette.
  • Harmonizes with heavy plate sets of dwarven and earthen themes.
  • Stands out in dark, grim death knight looks as a massive bright accent.
  • A good choice for a "ruin guardian" or "golem protector" concept thanks to the stone texture of the head.

Tips

1

It is best to farm on a class with fast movement and good solo survivability — a paladin or death knight will clear the giant without trouble.

2

Before flying out to the spot, make sure The Azure Span is already unlocked via the campaign, otherwise teleports to the zone will be unavailable.

3

Use addons or markers to track rare mobs — they will tell you when Mahg the Trampler respawns.

4

If someone killed the giant before you, switch zone copies by accepting a group invite from a player in another realm.

5

The high drop chance means you usually do not need to re-enter the zone for several attempts — one kill is most often enough.

6

Collect the appearance straight away on the character you need: the item binds on pickup and cannot be traded.

7

Once obtained, the appearance is saved to the account-wide transmogrification collection, so you will not have to farm it again on other characters.
