Overview

Perdition's Blade

Game iconPerdition's Blade is an epic one-handed dagger from the classic World of Warcraft era. It is a short blade with a dark curved edge and a smoldering golden-orange fiery rim: as the character moves, a faint golden trail follows the weapon. It is precisely this glow that turned the dagger into an iconic item — it does not depend on any applied enchantment, so the model is often chosen when players want to hide the visual effect of a weapon enchant.

The dagger was introduced in patch 1.4.0 and received an updated model in patch 1.9.0. In Classic it was one of the most coveted weapons for rogues. Today the item is valued primarily as a transmog: it suits any class that wields daggers and is collected through the Appearances (Wardrobe) system on any character on the account.

The dagger has a built-in on-hit effect — Game iconFirebolt, dealing a small amount of fire damage to the target. This effect has no impact on clearing modern content: the item is interesting solely for its appearance.

Source

Perdition's Blade is obtained in the Molten Core raid — an underground volcanic complex beneath Blackrock Mountain in the Burning Steppes zone. The item drops from the raid's final boss, Ragnaros, the Firelord.

  • Source — Ragnaros, the last boss of Molten Core.
  • The chance for the dagger to drop from Ragnaros is about 20–22% per kill.
  • The boss respawns once a week, so farming proceeds one run per reset period.
  • The item becomes soulbound on pickup and is bound to the account through the Wardrobe.

The raid is long outdated in difficulty and can be soloed by any max-level character in a few minutes. There are two ways inside. The main entrance is located deep within the Blackrock Depths dungeon: after the hall with the group boss, you need to cross a bridge over a lava lake. A faster route opens after a short quest chain from Lothos Riftwaker — he grants access to Molten Core, after which you can enter the raid through the portal next to him, bypassing the dungeon.

One kill of Ragnaros per week is enough for farming. If the dagger does not drop, you have to wait for the next raid reset.

Alternatives

Perdition's Blade has no direct color variants — the model with the golden fiery trail is unique. If you need a thematically similar blade, take a look at another weapon with a similar silhouette or fire motif:

Game iconSorcerous Dagger Molten Core
Game iconSulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros Molten Core, Ragnaros
Game iconDemon Blade world drop
Game iconBloodstrike Dagger world drop

Game iconSorcerous Dagger is an epic dagger from the same raid, a convenient target to farm together in one run. Game iconSulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros is a legendary hammer from the same boss, kept in the same fiery palette as Perdition's Blade. Game iconDemon Blade and Game iconBloodstrike Dagger share a single dark-blade model between them and work as a budget option for a similar silhouette without the fiery glow.

Visual fit

  • Harmonizes with sets in a red-gold and fiery palette — the look pairs well with weapons from Molten Core.
  • Suits outfits themed around fire, lava and the Firelord — the golden trail reinforces this theme.
  • Works in contrast with dark leather or mail armor: the smoldering edge becomes the main accent of the look.
  • A great choice for rogues and other dagger-wielding classes when you need to hide the visual effect of a weapon enchant.
  • Paired with Game iconSulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros or another fiery weapon, it forms a cohesive "Ragnaros" look.

Tips

1

Molten Core can be soloed by any max-level class — a dedicated farming group is not needed.

2

Open access via the quest chain from Lothos Riftwaker: the portal next to him saves time on every run compared with going through Blackrock Depths.

3

Ragnaros grants loot once a week per character, so to speed up farming run the raid on several characters on the account.

4

In a single run you can simultaneously farm inv_hammer_unique_sulfurasSulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros from Ragnaros — collect both targets at once.

5

inv_weapon_shortblade_07Sorcerous Dagger drops from several bosses in the raid, so clear all of Molten Core, not just the last boss.

6

After you obtain it, the dagger binds to the account through the Wardrobe and becomes available to all your dagger-wielding characters.

7

If the weapon does not drop, that is normal: with a chance of about 20–22% the farm can take several weeks in a row.
