Get Phalynx of Courage mount

Phalynx of Courage is a ground mount added to World of Warcraft with the release of the Shadowlands expansion (patch 9.0.1). It is a mechanical lion automaton, assembled by the kyrian of Bastion from polished golden metal and reinforced with flows of anima. The model belongs to the "phalynx" family — four machines identical in silhouette but different in color, forged by the master automaton Mikanikos of the Aspirant's Rest in Spires of Ascension.

The mount is awarded for the quest Building the Base — the final stage of the third chapter of the Kyrian covenant campaign, "Festus, Builder of Ages." This is an exclusive covenant reward: only a character who has pledged to the kyrian can obtain it. The mount itself is account-bound and available to all characters on the account once obtained.

The item's flavor text underscores the idea: each phalynx is a casting of one of the kyrian's principal virtues. Courage is the key virtue of the aspirant ready to step into the Forge of Eternity and be reborn as a defender of Bastion.

• Guaranteed reward — unlike the Phalynxes of Purity, Humility, and Loyalty, which must be farmed, the Phalynx of Courage is awarded automatically for completing a story quest. It is impossible to miss if you carry the Kyrian campaign through to its end.
• Full set of four colors — together with the Phalynx of Purity, Phalynx of Humility, and Phalynx of Loyalty, it makes up the collection of all golden variants. Each of the four is a separate entry in the mount journal.
• Unique mechanical model — no other Shadowlands mounts use this kyrian automaton silhouette. The phalynxes visually echo the sentinels patrolling Bastion.
• Speed 10 out of 10 — the mount receives a +60% or +100% bonus to movement speed depending on your riding skill, which matches the maximum speed of ground transport.
• Available to the entire account — after the first award, the mount is unlocked for any character on your account, even those pledged to other covenants.

Obtaining the Phalynx of Courage is rigidly tied to progress in the Kyrian campaign. You cannot skip steps: each chapter unlocks only upon reaching the required level of Renown.

1. Level your character to 70 and travel to the Shadowlands through the introductory Shadowlands campaign. If the expansion's story is already complete, head there directly via the portal from Oribos in the Hall of the Skyriders in Stormwind or Orgrimmar.
2. Choose the Kyrian covenant at the end of the introductory Shadowlands campaign. If your character already belongs to another covenant, you will need to switch covenants with Adjutant Galos in Elysian Hold.
3. Complete the weekly covenant tasks to raise your Renown. The third campaign chapter, "Festus, Builder of Ages," unlocks at Renown level 8.
4. Pick up the chapter's quest chain from Mikanikos in the Aspirant's Rest. The chapter's first quests are devoted to gathering parts and repairing the Crown of the Ascension.
5. Reach the chapter's final quest — Building the Base. In it you help Mikanikos start up a new phalynx and deliver the finishing blow to the constructed automaton.
6. Receive the Phalynx of Courage as the reward for turning in the quest.
7. Open the item from your bag — the mount is instantly added to your collection and becomes available to all characters on the account.

The campaign is divided into 9 chapters. Each one unlocks upon reaching a certain level of Renown. The Phalynx of Courage is awarded in the third chapter, so it is impossible to get the mount before Renown 8.

If you lack the required Renown at the third chapter, focus on weekly sources: Torghast rewards, covenant tasks from the sanctum, activities in Bastion, and story quests from already-unlocked chapters.

To approach the quest Building the Base, you must complete three preceding quests of the chapter "Festus, Builder of Ages." All of them are given by Mikanikos in the Aspirant's Rest:

1. Mikanikos's Summons — an introductory briefing about the broken Crown of the Ascension.
2. Gathering Parts — collect gears and anima cores across Bastion.
3. Repairing the Frame — help Mikanikos assemble the basic structure.
4. Building the Base — activate the new automaton and receive the Phalynx of Courage.

The chain takes 20–30 minutes and contains no difficult battles. All monsters are at the zone's level, soloable on any class and specialization.

The Phalynx of Courage is one of four golden phalynxes of the Kyrian covenant. Each is obtained in its own way, but visually they differ only in casting details and the shade of the metal.

If you play Kyrian and have already received the Phalynx of Courage, continue the campaign to the sixth chapter, "The Vessel of Ardenweald" (Renown 17), to claim its crystalline "eternal" version.
