Overview

Phase-Lost Scimitar

Game iconPhase-Lost Scimitar is a cosmetic one-handed sword added to World of Warcraft in The War Within expansion (patch 11.2, "Ghosts of K'aresh"). It is a curved blade with a fel-green glow, a recolor of an old raid weapon model: the edge is lit with greenish flame, and the hilt is adorned with sharp demonic facets. Against the ethereal, "phase-lost" theme of the K'aresh zone, such a blade looks like a find from a neighboring layer of reality — hence the name.

The item has an item level of zero and exists purely for its appearance: its tooltip flags it as a cosmetic effect, and it is Warband-bound, meaning it unlocks for the entire account at once. It has no combat stats — this is pure transmog.

The sword belongs to the set of so-called phase-lost items collected during the Phase Dive on K'aresh. Once you gather the whole collection, you earn a separate mount — more on that in the tips below.

Source

The scimitar cannot be bought or looted from a regular boss. It drops only from phase orbs during the Phase Dive in the K'aresh zone.

  • First, you need to obtain and upgrade the Game iconReshii Wraps artifact cloak to its second rank — the "Secrets of the Depths" upgrade. Without it, the phase orbs are invisible.
  • After that, during the Phase Dive on K'aresh, phase orbs appear around the world. Each orb you collect has roughly a 20 percent chance to grant one of the missing phase-lost items.
  • Duplicates do not drop: each phase-lost item is unique, so over time you are guaranteed to collect them all, including this scimitar.
  • The item is Warband-bound — the appearance unlocks on all characters of the account at once.
  • This is previous-expansion content and is completed entirely solo: the Phase Dive is a single-player world exploration activity.

To speed up the farm, upgrade the cloak to higher ranks — at the fourth rank, phase orbs also start dropping from slain enemies, not just lying around in the world.

Who It Suits Visually

  • The blade is a natural match for green and demonic looks: armor with Fel accents picks up the glow of the edge.
  • It pairs well with the ethereal, "interdimensional" theme of K'aresh and the reshii — the zone's purple-green palette echoes the sword's glow.
  • It stands out against dark, charcoal armor, where the green glow becomes the only bright spot.
  • It suits demon hunters and Fel-themed looks, where the green flame reads as part of the concept.
  • Because of its bright glow, it pairs poorly with light pastel sets — the blade steals attention, so it is best to build the look around it.

Tips

1

Before hunting for the scimitar, be sure to upgrade the Reshii Wraps to the "Secrets of the Depths" rank — otherwise the phase orbs simply will not appear.

2

Raise the cloak to the fourth rank: then the orbs start dropping from slain enemies, and farming the collection goes noticeably faster.

3

There are no duplicates, so each new orb brings you closer to the full set — you can farm calmly, without any "bad luck on repeats."

4

Rerolling worlds (switching between zone copies via world boss groups) helps you find new phase orbs faster.

5

Once you collect all the phase-lost items, you earn the Phase-Lost-and-Found achievement and the inv_kareshroamermount_yellowPhase-Lost Slateback mount — so farming this scimitar works toward the mount at the same time.

6

The activity is solo and not tied to weekly locks — you can collect orbs at any pace, as many as you like per session.

7

The appearance unlocks for the entire account, so there is no need to farm the scimitar again on other characters.
