Get Pillar of Noxious Dissemination
Overview

Pillar of Noxious Dissemination is a two-handed mace added to World of Warcraft in the Shadowlands expansion (patch 9.2.0, "Eternity's End"). It is a Strength weapon: it is wielded by Death Knights, Warriors, and Paladins.
The model is steeped in the aesthetic of the Maw and the Jailer's servants: a heavy head studded with spiked growths and a dark, sickly green glow that seems to ooze corruption. The silhouette is massive and grim, making the mace easy to recognize among Shadowlands two-handed weapons.
For collectors it is a pure trophy appearance: the item's stats have long been irrelevant, and players seek it out purely for its looks. The name itself nods to the theme of spreading blight — the central motif of the Maw's servants in Zereth Mortis.
Source
The mace drops in Zereth Mortis from the rare mob Iska, Outrider of Ruin.
- Exact location: the Endless Sands in the northeast of Zereth Mortis, at roughly
/way 63 26. - Iska is a rare elite servant of the Maw, not an ordinary rare with a fixed spawn point.
- The mace's drop chance is about 4%, so the farm is built around repeated kills.
- There is no attempt limit: the mob can be killed every time it appears, with the only restriction lying in the mechanic of its summoning.
The main challenge is not the fight but getting Iska to appear. This is a special encounter: the mob does not stand in one place but is summoned when you kill other rare enemies in the Endless Sands. Iska's appearance shares a common pool with a couple of other special encounters, so even when the condition is met, it does not always spawn. In practice this means you have to methodically clear the zone's rares, including ones you have already killed, until the summon triggers.
Access to Zereth Mortis opens up over the course of the Shadowlands patch 9.2 campaign. At Midnight max level the zone and the mob itself are cleared solo with ease — the content is several expansions out of date.
Who It Suits Visually
- The dark, sickly green glow makes the mace a natural choice for Death Knight looks and corrupted-warrior themes.
- It pairs well with plate sets in a grim palette — dark metal, toxic green, and bone-colored accents.
- It fits concepts of death's servants and dark Paladins thanks to its direct Maw-corruption theme.
- It contrasts with light or golden armor — a debatable but striking combination where the mace works as a sinister accent.
- It is fitting in Shadowlands- and Maw-styled looks, rounding out dark-realm sets.
Tips
Be ready for a long farm: the main delay is Iska's rare appearance, not the low drop chance of the appearance itself.
To summon Iska, methodically kill rare mobs in the Endless Sands, including ones already killed earlier — that is what triggers his summoning.
It is convenient to combine the farm with clearing all of Zereth Mortis's rares: you pick up expansion currencies along the way, and the chance to summon Iska grows.
The optimal classes for solo farming are sturdy specializations like a Death Knight or Protection Paladin, so you are not distracted by the mob's mechanics.
The mace is a Strength weapon, so it will count toward the appearance collection only for classes able to equip it.
At Midnight max level both the mob and his retinue die quickly, so the bottleneck is finding and summoning Iska, not the fight.
Drop into the zone during hours when other players are also farming rares: a shared clear speeds up the appearance of special encounters in the Endless Sands.
