Overview

Predatory Plagueroc

Game iconPredatory Plagueroc is an epic flying mount from the Shadowlands expansion. It is a large undead member of the roc family — predatory creatures of Maldraxxus resembling giant undead birds with massive talons and bony growths. The mount's model is rendered in the greenish, plague-touched tones characteristic of the House of Constructs aesthetic.

The mount's description reads: "In the House of the Fleshworks, legends are told of Gieger's eternal hunger. There is no beast yet born that Gieger could not devour and digest."

The mount was added in patch 9.0.2 and drops from the rare NPC Gieger in the Maldraxxus zone. To summon this rare foe, you must belong to the Necrolord covenant and activate an anima conductor.

Why You Want This Mount

  • A unique predatory roc model in a plague-tinted color scheme — one of the most recognizable mounts of Maldraxxus.
  • A fully fledged flying mount that adapts to your riding skill (ground or flying mode).
  • A rare drop (~2%) — owning this mount underscores your persistence.
  • Account-bound — available to all characters in your warband once you reach renown level 80 with the Necrolords.
  • Requires no purchase or currency — only patience and daily farming.

How to Get the Predatory Plagueroc

The mount drops from the rare NPC Gieger in Maldraxxus. The drop chance is approximately 2% (according to Wowhead). However, accessing this NPC requires meeting a number of conditions.

Requirements

  1. Necrolord covenant. Your character must belong to the Necrolord covenant. Only a Necrolord player can summon Gieger.
  2. Anima conductor. You need to unlock the anima conductor at Seat of the Primus (the Necrolord sanctum) and direct the anima flow to the House of Constructs.
  3. Character level. A character of level 60 or higher is required (per Shadowlands content requirements).

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Make sure you belong to the Necrolord covenant.
  2. Open the anima conductor interface at Seat of the Primus.
  3. Direct the anima flow to the House of Constructs. The direction can be chosen once per day.
  4. After activating the flow, head to coordinates 31.5, 35.4 in Maldraxxus — this is the territory of the House of Constructs.
  5. Find the NPC Last Thread near the inactive Gieger.
  6. Interact with Last Thread to activate Gieger.
  7. Kill Gieger and loot the spoils. With luck, you will receive the Game iconPredatory Plagueroc.

Gieger's Abilities

Gieger is an undead from the House of Constructs with the following abilities:

  • Blinding Blizzard — a cone attack that disorients enemies for 5 seconds. Step aside.
  • Jagged Spikes — an eruption of spikes that deals Nature damage and knocks you upward.
  • Organ Eruption — a burst of organs that deals Nature damage in an area.
  • Gieger's Strike — a physical attack that increases physical damage taken by 15% (stacks).

The fight poses no serious challenge for a max-level character. Try to avoid cone attacks and don't stand in damage zones.

How to Reach Maldraxxus

Maldraxxus is one of the zones of the Shadowlands. You can reach the required coordinates in several ways:

Via Oribos (recommended)

Fly from Oribos to Maldraxxus via a flight point. If you have access to a portal to Oribos (available in faction capitals starting with Dragonflight), use it.

Via the Necrolord Sanctum

If you already belong to the Necrolord covenant, use the teleport to Seat of the Primus. From there, head northwest to the House of Constructs.

Gieger's Coordinates

After arriving in Maldraxxus, head to the House of Constructs:

/way #1536 31.5 35.4 Gieger

Farming Optimization

  • A daily ritual. Gieger can be killed once per day per character. Make a habit of visiting him daily.
  • Multiple Necrolord characters. If you want to increase your number of attempts, create several characters in the Necrolord covenant with an activated anima conductor. Each of them can kill Gieger once per day.
  • The anima conductor must be active. Don't forget to direct the anima flow to the House of Constructs every day. Without it, Gieger will not appear.
  • A group is not required. A max-level character can easily handle Gieger solo. The fight takes no more than a minute.
  • Check your phasing. Some Maldraxxus story quests can shift you into a different phase in which Gieger is unavailable. If you don't see the NPC Last Thread, try completing any active story quests in the zone.
  • Statistics. At a ~2% chance, it will take about 50 kills on average to obtain the mount. Plan to farm over several weeks.

Tips

1

The mount is account-bound. Once you obtain it on one character, you'll be able to use it on all characters in your warband, provided you reach renown level 80 with the Necrolords.

2

If you switched covenants, return to the Necrolords — in Shadowlands and later expansions, switching covenants carries no penalties.

3

The Predatory Plagueroc is a classic flying mount — it does not support Dragonriding. It uses the standard flight model.

4

The mount's speed depends on your riding skill: ground — +60%/+100%, air — +150%/+280%/+310%.

5

The NPC name Gieger is a reference to the Swiss artist Hans Ruedi Giger, creator of the creature designs in the film "Alien."

6

In addition to the mount, Gieger drops gear and gratitude offerings — a useful resource for purchases in the Necrolord sanctum.
