TBC Classic Holy Priest Guide (Phase 3)
About the Class
Holy Priest is a cloth-armor healer with the most varied healing toolkit in the game: there is a spell for every situation. Early in the expansion, priests are more often played through the Discipline tree for its unique buffs and defensive cooldowns, while Holy comes to the forefront in later raids, where a lot of area damage starts hitting the raid. The main tool here is
Circle of Healing.
Strengths
- The most varied healing toolkit among all healers.
- Removes magic effects.
- Excellent area healing.
Weaknesses
- Small health pool: healer gear often has no stamina at all.
- Less utility than other healers.
- Aside from healing, offers almost nothing to the raid.

Ability Priority
Improved Power Word: Fortitude — keep it on the whole raid
Shadow Protection — if the group is taking shadow damage
Divine Spirit — on all casters if you took the Discipline talents
Power Word: Shield — if the target would die before you finish the cast
Binding Heal — when both you and an ally need urgent healing
Renew — keep it on the tank and on everyone taking constant damage
Circle of Healing — your main area heal, try to hit at least 3 targets
Prayer of Mending — on the tank or on a group taking area damage
Greater Heal — when a target is taking heavy damage and needs a big heal
Flash Heal — only in emergencies
Important Abilities:
Mana regenerates from spirit only outside the five-second rule, and the countdown starts at the moment the cast ends, not when it begins. Use these windows: you can begin a cast and cancel it if the heal turned out not to be needed.
Spell Ranks
Rank downranking is mandatory for the priest. The best candidate is
Greater Heal: keep several of its ranks on your bar and pick one based on your gear level and how much damage is actually going out. A lower rank heals for less but costs noticeably less.

Best Professions
Early on it provides strong pieces from a guaranteed source:
Primal Mooncloth Robe,
Primal Mooncloth Shoulders, and
Primal Mooncloth Belt with a lot of healing power and sockets. You should swap them out for T4 as soon as possible: they have no stamina, and the priest already has the smallest health pool.
Grants
Enchant Ring - Healing Power on both rings — 40 healing power in total.
Grants the
Alchemist Stone. The priest has plenty of strong mana trinkets like the
Darkmoon Card: Blue Dragon, but the stone is handy to wear on long fights or on packs right before drinking a mana potion.
An option if no one else in your group can bring drums.
