Qinsho's Eternal Hound

Qinsho's Eternal Hound is an epic ground mount added in patch 8.0.1 of the Battle for Azeroth expansion. It is a stone qilin forged from pure gold and imbued with the resilience of the earth itself. The mount drops as a rare reward from Island Expeditions, and can also be obtained from salvage crates and War Table missions.

In appearance, Qinsho's Eternal Hound is a stone qilin with a golden coloration and bronze armor. The mount's model resembles the Imperial Quilen from the Mists of Pandaria Collector's Edition, but unlike that mount it cannot fly.

• Rare model — Qinsho's Eternal Hound is one of the few available qilin mounts in the game. Most mounts of this type were tied to promotions or collector's editions, which makes this qilin especially valuable to collectors
• Unique appearance — the golden stone qilin with bronze armor elements stands out among other mounts. Its model is connected to the mogu, one of the most memorable factions of Pandaria
• Available to all characters — once learned, the mount becomes available on all characters of your account
• Several ways to obtain — you can get the mount directly from Island Expeditions, from salvage crates purchased with Seafarer's Dubloons, or through War Table missions. This lets you combine different approaches
• Prestige — due to its extremely low drop chance, this mount is rarely seen, and having it in your collection speaks to the owner's persistence

There are three main ways to obtain Qinsho's Eternal Hound. All of them are tied to the Island Expeditions of Battle for Azeroth.

Method 1: Direct drop from Island Expeditions

1. Head to your faction's capital in Zandalar or Kul Tiras
2. Find the Island Expeditions table and queue for an expedition of any difficulty (Normal, Heroic, Mythic or PvP)
3. Complete the expedition — the mount may drop as a reward at the end if mogu enemies were present on the island
4. Repeat until you get the mount

The direct drop chance is extremely low — players estimate it at around 1% even on Mythic difficulty. The key condition: mogu must be present on the island. You cannot choose which enemies appear on the island, so patience is required.

Method 2: Salvage crates for Seafarer's Dubloons

This method is considered more reliable, since the chance to get the mount from crates is higher.

1. Save up Seafarer's Dubloons — they drop after every completed expedition (roughly 4–10 at a time) and from pouches on the islands
2. Find the salvage crate vendor near the main Dubloon vendor. For the Horde this is Captain Zen'taga in the Port of Zandalar (/way 51.3 95.8), for the Alliance it's Captain Klaars in Boralus Harbor (/way 47.4 87.5)
3. Purchase Un'gol Ruins Salvage or Verdant Wilds Salvage for 175 Seafarer's Dubloons each
4. Open the crate — the chance to get the mount from it is significantly higher than from a direct drop

Note: the vendor's inventory changes weekly, and the crates you need are not always available. Check the vendor every week.

Method 3: War Table missions (treasure maps)

1. Complete the weekly quest to gather 36,000 Azerite through Island Expeditions
2. As a reward you will receive a Mysterious Treasure Map, which becomes available as a mission on the War Table
3. Send your followers on the mission — among the possible rewards are mounts from Island Expeditions, including Qinsho's Eternal Hound
4. The treasure map is valid for 72 hours — don't forget to send the mission in time

Island Expeditions are scalable content for three players, available in the Battle for Azeroth expansion. At the current maximum level (90), expeditions are completed quickly and pose no challenge.

How to access expeditions

1. Reach your faction's capital: Boralus (Alliance) or Dazar'alor (Horde)
2. Find the Island Expeditions table — it is located on the shipyard in both capitals
3. Choose a difficulty and queue

Which difficulty to choose

• Normal — the fastest to complete, can be farmed solo at maximum level. The optimal choice for mass farming of Seafarer's Dubloons
• Heroic — slightly longer, but the drop chance is supposedly higher
• Mythic — the highest chance for a direct mount drop, but requires a group and more time

For the purpose of farming Dubloons and subsequently buying crates, Normal difficulty is optimal — expeditions are completed in mere minutes.

Which islands are needed

The mount is connected to mogu enemies. It can drop from any island where mogu are present, even if you didn't kill them directly. Confirmed islands with mogu appearances include Whispering Reef and Rotting Mire, however mogu can appear on other maps as well depending on the weekly rotation.

Crate strategy (recommended)

This approach gives the highest probability of obtaining the mount for the time spent:

1. Farm Island Expeditions on Normal difficulty — each takes 3–5 minutes at maximum level
2. Collect Seafarer's Dubloons (4–10 per expedition)
3. Each week, check the crate vendor — you need Un'gol Ruins Salvage or Verdant Wilds Salvage
4. Buy and open the crates — the chance to get the mount from them is significantly higher than from a direct drop

Combined approach

1. Farm expeditions while simultaneously accumulating Dubloons and counting on a direct drop
2. Complete the weekly 36,000 Azerite quest to obtain a treasure map
3. Send the treasure map mission on the War Table
4. Buy crates when the ones you need are available from the vendor

This way you use all three methods of obtaining simultaneously.

Farming on multiple characters

If you have several characters with access to Island Expeditions, use them all:

• Each character can save up Dubloons and buy crates
• Each character can complete the weekly quest and obtain a treasure map
• The mount is bound when obtained, but once learned it is available to your whole account
