Quel'dorei Steed
Overview

Quel'dorei Steed is an epic ground mount of the Alliance faction, added in patch 3.2.0 of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. It is a graceful white unicorn ridden by the high elves of the Silver Covenant. The mount is purchased from Harille Songsteel at the Argent Tournament Grounds in Icecrown for 100
Champion's Seals once you reach Exalted reputation with the Silver Covenant.
According to its description, the steed descends from a lineage of noble horses that once grazed on the shores of the Well of Eternity. The mount's model is a snow-white horse with a long twisted horn on its forehead, elegant silvery harness, and light elven tack. It is one of the few unicorns in the game available through reputation with no drop chance involved.
Why You Want This Mount
- Guaranteed acquisition — the mount is purchased from a vendor for a fixed currency. You don't have to hope for a lucky drop: by accumulating Champion's Seals and raising your reputation, you will definitely obtain the steed
- Unique unicorn model — World of Warcraft has relatively few unicorn mounts, and the Quel'dorei Steed is one of the most elegant among them
- Available to all characters on the account — once learned, the mount is added to your collection and becomes available to all your Alliance characters
- Minimal requirements — to use it, you only need character level 10 and Apprentice Riding skill
How to Obtain
To purchase the mount, you must meet two conditions: achieve the rank of Champion of the Alliance and raise your reputation with the Silver Covenant to Exalted, as well as accumulate 100 Champion's Seals.
- Travel to Icecrown and find the Argent Tournament Grounds in the northern part of the zone
- Complete the chain of quests to become a champion of your race from the corresponding Alliance representative
- Earn the rank of Champion of the Alliance by completing the quest "The Glory of the Alliance"
- Begin completing daily quests for the Silver Covenant, which become available after becoming a champion
- Raise your reputation with the Silver Covenant to Exalted and accumulate 100 Champion's Seals
- Approach Harille Songsteel in the Silver Covenant pavilion and buy the Quel'dorei Steed
How to Reach the Argent Tournament Grounds
The tournament grounds are located in the northern part of Icecrown and serve as the base for the Argent Tournament events. You can get there in several ways.
Main Routes
- Via flight point — if you have unlocked the "Argent Tournament Grounds" flight point, simply use the nearest inn or a flying mount
- Portal from Dalaran (Northrend) — there is a portal in the Violet Citadel of Dalaran leading directly to the Tournament Grounds
- Flight from Dalaran — it's about a minute's flight from Dalaran to the grounds, heading northeast
- From the capitals — use the portal to Dalaran (Northrend) from your capital, then head to the Tournament Grounds

Harille Songsteel stands inside the Silver Covenant pavilion — one of the elven tents in the eastern part of the tournament grounds:
Earning the Rank of Champion of the Alliance
Before you can access the Silver Covenant daily quests, you must complete the chain of quests to become a champion of your race.
Stages of Becoming a Champion
- Become an Aspirant — speak with your Alliance race's representative at the Tournament Grounds and pick up the starting quests
- Complete the Aspirant's trials — perform daily quests as an Aspirant, earning Aspirant's Marks of Honor
- Become a Valiant — after a promotion, complete the Valiant's quests, earning Valiant's Marks of Honor
- Become a Champion — continue the chain until you earn the title of Valiant of one of the Alliance kingdoms
- Complete the quest "The Glory of the Alliance" — finish the quest and become a Champion of the Alliance
After earning the rank of Champion of the Alliance, you will gain daily quests from the Silver Covenant that grant reputation and Champion's Seals.
Grinding Reputation with the Silver Covenant
To reach Exalted, you need to earn 42,000 reputation points. The primary source is the Argent Tournament daily quests.
Daily Quests
After earning the rank of Champion of the Alliance, the following types of daily quests are available for the Silver Covenant:
- Arena quests — defeat opponents in the tournament arena while mounted. Each grants reputation and a Champion's Seal
- Aspirant defense quests — you must help an aspirant pass a trial. The reward includes reputation and seals
- Scourge destruction quests — tasks against the forces of the Scourge near the Scourge stronghold in Icecrown
- Reconnaissance quests — performing scouting tasks around the Tournament Grounds
Heralds of the Silver Covenant
Each daily quest chain grants approximately 250–500 reputation points and 1 to 5 Champion's Seals. On average, you can earn about 10–15 seals and 1,000 to 2,000 reputation points per day.
Reputation Boosters
- Tabard of the Silver Covenant — purchased from Harille Songsteel for 50 Champion's Seals. It allows you to earn reputation with the Silver Covenant while running dungeons
- Darkmoon Faire — ride the carousel before completing tasks to gain the "WHEE!" buff (+10% reputation for 1 hour)
- Reputation bonus event — when the event is active, the reputation you earn is increased
Optimizing Champion's Seal Farming
Daily Plan
At max level, all Argent Tournament quests are completed quickly. The optimal order of actions to save time:
- Pick up all available daily quests at the Silver Covenant pavilion and from the aspirants' commander
- First complete the arena and aspirant defense quests, since they take place directly at the tournament grounds
- Then head out to complete the quests against the Scourge — they are located near the grounds
- Don't forget the weekly quest "A Champion Rises" — it grants a significant bonus to Champion's Seals
- Turn in the quests as a full set to receive reputation and seals at the same time
How Long It Will Take
By completing all available tasks daily, reaching Exalted and collecting 100 Champion's Seals takes about 2–3 weeks. If you have completed Argent Tournament quests before, some reputation may already be accumulated.
Gathering Resources for Other Rewards at the Same Time
Harille Songsteel also sells the
Silver Covenant Hippogryph for 150 Champion's Seals. If you are a mount collector, it makes sense to save up 250 seals at once and buy both mounts in a single visit. He also offers the
Shimmering Wyrmling — a companion for your collection.
Tips
Don't sell off extra Champion's Seals — the Argent Tournament vendors sell several mounts, companions, and cosmetic items. If you plan to build a collection, save up seals in reserve
Combine with the other tournament factions — Argent Tournament daily quests often overlap. Alongside Silver Covenant reputation, you build reputation with the Argent Crusade
Use the tabard in dungeons — the
Tabard of the Silver Covenant grants reputation for killing mobs in any dungeon. This is an additional source of points beyond the daily quests
Visit the Tournament Grounds every day — quests reset daily. By skipping a day, you lose about 1,000–2,000 reputation points and 10 seals
Watch for the weekly quest — it grants a large bonus to Champion's Seals and significantly speeds up currency accumulation
Use head-start discounts — if you participated in the Argent Tournament earlier and have progress, check your reputation — you may have very little left to reach Exalted
The mount is account-wide — after purchase, the Quel'dorei Steed becomes available to all your Alliance characters, so it makes sense to grind reputation on your main character
Horde alternative — if you also have a Horde character, take note of the equivalent mount
Sunreaver Dragonhawk, which is sold by the Sunreaver quartermaster under the same conditions
