Overview

Raging Cinderbee

Game iconRaging Cinderbee is an epic ground and flying mount added in patch 11.0.0 of the The War Within expansion. It is a fiery red cinderbee with blazing wings, available for completing the meta-achievement Ruffious's Bid. The achievement combines seven open-world PvP tasks across the Khaz Algar zones and requires War Mode to be enabled.

The mount journal describes it as follows: "This cinderbee's temper is as hot as its flame. Only those who share its insatiable thirst for violence can tame this breed of cinderbee." The mount belongs to the cinderbee family and shares its model with the Smoldering Cinderbee, the Soaring Honeyback and other bee mounts of The War Within.

Why You Want This Mount

  • Unique fiery model — the Raging Cinderbee stands out with its bright red coloring and blazing effects. Among all the bee mounts of The War Within, it looks the most aggressive and eye-catching
  • Ground and flying — the mount adapts to your riding skill and location. In flight, the cinderbee's wings leave an impressive fiery trail
  • No luck involved — unlike mounts with a percentage drop, the Raging Cinderbee is guaranteed for completing the achievement. The progress is entirely in your hands
  • Available to all characters — once obtained, the mount becomes available on every character of your account
  • PvP status — the mount shows off your engagement with open-world PvP content. Only 6% of players have completed the Ruffious's Bid achievement, which makes the cinderbee fairly rare

Requirements

To obtain the mount, you must complete the meta-achievement Ruffious's Bid, which requires finishing seven sub-achievements. All tasks are done in War Mode across the Khaz Algar zones.

  • Level 90 character (Midnight)
  • War Mode enabled
  • Access to the Khaz Algar zones: Isle of Dorn, the Ringing Deeps, Hallowfall, Azj-Kahet
  • Riding skill (any level)

How to Reach the Khaz Algar Zones

The Khaz Algar zones are the core locations of the The War Within expansion. Access to them opens up over the course of the main campaign.

First Visit

  1. Start the The War Within campaign — the starting quest is available at level 70 at the notice board in your faction's capital or in Dornogal
  2. Complete the introductory scenario that takes you to the Isle of Dorn
  3. Continue the main storyline to unlock the Ringing Deeps, Hallowfall and Azj-Kahet

Quick Access

Once the zones are unlocked, use portals and flight points:

  • A hearthstone set to Dornogal — the central hub of The War Within
  • Flight points in each Khaz Algar zone
  • A portal to Dornogal from Stormwind or Orgrimmar

Enabling War Mode

War Mode is activated only in your faction's capital (Stormwind or Orgrimmar):

  1. Open the talent window (the N key)
  2. Switch to the PvP tab
  3. Toggle on "War Mode" in the bottom-right corner
  4. Teleport to a Khaz Algar zone — War Mode will be active

Step-by-Step Guide — All 7 Sub-Achievements

The meta-achievement Ruffious's Bid consists of seven sub-achievements. Each of them is described in detail below.

1. Unbridled Battle

Requirement: complete each of the 8 world PvP quests in The War Within once.

List of quests:

  1. Elemental Excavation — excavating elemental resources
  2. Dig This — gathering resources in a dangerous zone
  3. Pushing Back the Darkness — defending a position against waves of enemies
  4. Polarization — capturing and holding a point
  5. Tagging Along — escorting an allied NPC
  6. Misty Standoff — fighting in foggy conditions
  7. Bells of the Light — defending the Bells of the Light
  8. Serving the Queen — completing a task for the Queen

World PvP quests appear on a rotation — two quests per day. To earn the achievement, it is enough to complete each quest once.

2. Champion's Tour: The War Within

Requirement: complete each of those same 8 world PvP quests 5 times.

Reward: the Red-Eyed Hornshell pet.

This is an expanded version of Unbridled Battle. Since the rotation offers two quests per day, completing all 8 quests 5 times each will take several weeks.

3–6. Combat Duty — 4 Zones

Each achievement requires earning 1,000 honor points in the corresponding zone in War Mode:

  • Combat Duty: Isle of Dorn — 1,000 honor on the Isle of Dorn
  • Combat Duty: The Ringing Deeps — 1,000 honor in the Ringing Deeps
  • Combat Duty: Hallowfall — 1,000 honor in Hallowfall
  • Combat Duty: Azj-Kahet — 1,000 honor in Azj-Kahet

Ways to earn honor:

  • War supply crates — appear roughly every 20 minutes in War Mode zones. Each crate grants 150 honor. This is the safest way to earn honor without PvP combat
  • Killing players of the opposing faction — grants honor for each kill
  • World PvP quests — award honor on completion
  • Bounties — killing players with a bounty on their head (marked on the map) grants increased honor

7. Striking Sparks

Requirement: complete the "Sparks of War" quest 20 times.

The "Sparks of War" quests are picked up from the NPC Ruffious in Dornogal (coordinates: /way 58.8 75.2). Four variants are available — one for each zone:

  • Sparks of War: Isle of Dorn
  • Sparks of War: The Ringing Deeps
  • Sparks of War: Hallowfall
  • Sparks of War: Azj-Kahet

Each quest requires collecting 100 Sparks of War in the specified zone. Sources of Sparks of War:

  • World PvP quests — 10 sparks per quest
  • War supply crates — 10 sparks per crate
  • Chests in the zone — 5 sparks per chest
  • Killing rare mobs — 5 sparks
  • Excavating purple mounds of earth — 5 sparks per mound
  • Killing players of the opposing faction — a variable amount

Each quest completion counts as one of the 20 required. The quests are weekly, but you can do one in each zone, earning up to 4 completions per week.

Optimal Strategy

Weekly Plan

  1. Enable War Mode in the capital and teleport to Dornogal
  2. Pick up the "Sparks of War" quests from Ruffious (58.8, 75.2) for all four zones
  3. Check the available world PvP quests — do them first, since they give progress toward several achievements at once (Unbridled Battle, Champion's Tour, Sparks of War, honor for Tour of Duty)
  4. Collect Sparks of War from crates, chests and mounds of earth along the way
  5. Loot the war supply crates — they give both honor and Sparks of War
  6. Turn in the quests to Ruffious after collecting 100 Sparks of War in each zone

Parallel Progress

Most activities count toward several achievements at once:

  • World PvP quest = progress toward Unbridled Battle + Champion's Tour + honor for Combat Duty + Sparks of War
  • War supply crate = honor for Combat Duty + Sparks of War
  • Sparks of War quest = progress toward Striking Sparks

How Long It Will Take

With active play (4 Sparks of War quests per week + all available world PvP quests):

  • Striking Sparks (20 completions) — at least 5 weeks at 4 completions per week
  • Champion's Tour (8 quests 5 times each) — 3–6 weeks depending on the rotation
  • Tour of Duty (4,000 honor in total) — 2–4 weeks with regular crate collecting
  • Unbridled Battle — 1–2 weeks

Total time: roughly 5–8 weeks with regular play.

Using Alts

Progress toward the achievements is tracked at the account level. You can:

  • Complete Sparks of War quests on several characters, speeding up progress toward Striking Sparks
  • Collect honor on different characters — it adds up for Combat Duty
  • Complete world PvP quests on alts if they are not available on your main character

Tips

1

You don't have to fight players — most of the achievement can be done while avoiding direct PvP. War supply crates, world PvP quests against NPCs and collecting Sparks of War from the environment provide enough honor and progress

2

Watch the world PvP quest rotation — two of the eight quests are available per day. If the quest you need hasn't appeared, check the next day. The World Quest Tracker addon will help you track available quests

3

Prioritize Azj-Kahet for Sparks of War — Azj-Kahet has the most chests and mounds of earth, which makes this zone optimal for quickly collecting 100 Sparks of War in a single run

4

War supply crates are marked on the map — they appear roughly every 20 minutes and are marked with a special icon. Plan your route between their spawn points

5

Combine with weekly quests — if you are already doing weekly quests in the Khaz Algar zones, enable War Mode for parallel progress

6

The RareScanner addon — will help you track rare mobs that give Sparks of War. Killing rare mobs in War Mode grants both honor and Sparks

7

Group up — in a group, world PvP quests are completed faster, and the group honor bonus speeds up Combat Duty progress. Use the group finder (I) with a filter for PvP quests
