Raptora Swooper
Overview

Raptora Swooper is a rare ground and flying mount added in patch 9.2 "Eternity's End" of the Shadowlands expansion. It is a predatory mechanical raptora bird, created by the Firstborn in the workshops of Zereth Mortis. The mount is crafted through the Protoform Synthesis system at the Pattern Forge, provided you have the matching schematic and materials.
The Raptora Swooper is one of the most ferocious iterations of its kind, perfectly adapted to its ecological niche. The specimens synthesized today are no different from those created in the past. The mount model is rendered in red tones and visually resembles a mechanical hawk of the Firstborn.
Why You Want This Mount
- Guaranteed acquisition — unlike mounts with a percentage drop chance, the Raptora Swooper is obtained through crafting. Once you gather all the materials, the mount is yours
- Unique model — the red raptora stands out among other Zereth Mortis mounts. Related models use a different color scheme
- Ground and flying — the mount works both on the ground and in the air, adapting to your riding skill
- Available to all characters — once learned, the mount appears in the collection on every character of your account
- No gold required — you won't have to spend any gold. All materials are gathered on your own in Zereth Mortis
How to Obtain
To craft the Raptora Swooper you need to unlock the Protoform Synthesis system, find the mount schematic and gather three types of materials.
- Complete the first three chapters of the "Secrets of the First Ones" campaign in Zereth Mortis
- Research the "Sopranian Understanding" branch on the Cypher Console
- Complete the "Locating Tael" quest chain, which unlocks access to the Pattern Forge for mounts
- Find
Schematic: Raptora Swooper in the Sculptorium (coordinates 67.4, 40.1) — it lies on a table behind the Subjugated Architect - Gather the materials: 450 Genesis Motes, 1 Eternal Pearl of Wrath, 1 Raptora Matrix
- Head to the Pattern Forge and craft the mount
- Use the obtained Raptora Swooper item to learn the mount
How to Unlock Protoform Synthesis for Mounts
Protoform Synthesis is a crafting system in Zereth Mortis that lets you create mounts and battle pets. To unlock mount crafting you need to go through several stages.
Unlock Chain
- "Secrets of the First Ones" campaign — complete the first three chapters of the main Zereth Mortis campaign. This unlocks access to the Cypher Console at Elder Ara'lon in Haven.
- Cypher Console — research the "Dealic Understanding" branch. This unlocks the quest to create battle pets through Protoform Synthesis.
- Sopranian Understanding — continue your research on the Cypher Console. After completing the "Sopranian Understanding" branch, Elder Ara'lon will offer the "Locating Tael" quest.
- "Locating Tael" quest — follow the quest chain that leads you to the Vault of Tarsei. Upon completion you gain access to the Pattern Forge for mounts.
Important Notes
- Research on the Cypher Console takes time — each branch takes several days of real time
- You won't see mount schematics out in the world until you complete the "Locating Tael" quest and unlock Protoform Synthesis for mounts
- The Pattern Forge for mounts is located separately from the forge for pets
Where to Find the Schematic
The Schematic: Raptora Swooper is found in the Sculptorium — a small triangular building in the Vault of Tarsei, north of Haven.
Route to the Schematic
- Reach the Vault of Tarsei in Zereth Mortis
- Find the Sculptorium at the entrance coordinates: /way 65.7 35.9
- Go inside and pass the Subjugated Architect (an elite mob)
- The schematic lies on a table behind the architect: /way 67.4 40.1
- Pick up the schematic — it learns automatically
If the schematic doesn't appear, make sure you have completed the "Locating Tael" quest and unlocked Protoform Synthesis for mounts. Without this condition the schematics are invisible.
How to Gather the Materials
To craft the Raptora Swooper you will need three types of resources. Below is where and how to farm them efficiently.
Genesis Motes (450)
Genesis Motes are the main resource for Protoform Synthesis. They drop from practically any enemy in Zereth Mortis.
Best farming spot: the Genesis area (coordinates 43, 76). Here, Insatiable Devourers and Rabid Gorgers continuously emerge from portals, dying quickly and providing a steady stream of Motes.
Farming tips:
- Take up a position at one of the portals or move between them for maximum efficiency
- Farming in a group is significantly faster — you kill more mobs and share the loot
- Use the group finder to find other players farming Motes
- Expect 600 to 900 Motes per hour depending on your kill speed
Eternal Pearl of Wrath (1)
Eternal Pearl of Wrath is a rare material that drops from elite automa and subjugated mobs in Zereth Mortis.
Best farming spot: the Lost Wreckage — elementals along the foot of the cliffs between coordinates 44, 37 and 52, 40. They have low health, die quickly and respawn often.
Other sources:
- Subjugated Worldbreaker
- Shackled Guardian
- Shackled Gunner
- Subjugated Runecarver
- Olea's Cache (small chance)
You can hold no more than two pearls at a time. If you need more, mail the extras to another character.
Raptora Matrix (1)
Raptora Matrix is the material that determines the type of mount being created. It drops from raptora-type mobs in Zereth Mortis.
Best source: Thieving Raptora at coordinates 60.9, 43.0. These mobs respawn continuously, allowing you to farm without breaks.
All sources with drop chance:
| Mob | Drop chance |
|---|---|
| Garudeon (rare) | ~4.6 % |
| Desert Raptora | ~1.8 % |
| Thieving Raptora | ~0.9 % |
| Basal Raptora | ~1.2 % |
| Plains Raptora | ~1.1 % |
| Soaring Raptora | ~1.3 % |
| Scavenger Raptora | ~1.2 % |
| Olea's Cache | ~2.4 % |
Tips
Check your campaign progress — before searching for the schematic, make sure you have completed the three chapters of the "Secrets of the First Ones" campaign and researched Sopranian Understanding on the Cypher Console. Without this, mount schematics are invisible in the open world
Farm in parallel — while killing raptora-type mobs to get the Raptora Matrix, they also drop Genesis Motes. Combine the farming of both resources
Use rare mobs — Garudeon gives a significantly higher chance to drop the Raptora Matrix. Check for its presence every time you are in Zereth Mortis
Shard hopping — if the Lost Wreckage or raptoras aren't respawning, try toggling War Mode on or off to change your game shard
Olea's Cache — don't forget to open Olea's Caches on every visit to Zereth Mortis. They have a small chance to drop both the Raptora Matrix and the Eternal Pearl of Wrath
Current relevance — at max level (90 in Midnight) the mobs of Zereth Mortis die instantly, making material farming a fast and effortless activity
Account-wide mount — craft the mount on whichever character is most convenient. Once learned, it becomes available on all your characters

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
