August Phoenix

August Phoenix is a flying mount added to World of Warcraft in patch 10.2.7 "WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria" (May 7, 2024, the final season of Dragonflight). The item teaches the spell August Phoenix and becomes account-bound when obtained.

Visually, the mount is a vivid Pandaren phoenix — a reworking of the fiery bird model from the Mists of Pandaria Challenge Mode. Its color scheme is unique and differs from the four classic variants (crimson, ashen, emerald, and violet) that dropped from the Ancestral Phoenix Egg for the silver Challenge Mode achievement.

There is a single source: the Time Trial achievement — the very first step of progress for any Timerunner. Outside the event the mount does not drop and cannot be bought for bronze, so if you missed the August 20, 2024 deadline, you must wait for Remix to return.

• Unique phoenix coloring — this is the fifth, exclusive color of the Pandaren phoenix. All four classic variants remain available in regular MoP Classic, while the August one comes only from Remix.
• Easy obtain condition — all you need is to level a Timerunner to level 20. The starting level in Remix is 10, leveling is accelerated, so level 20 was reached in literally one or two hours on the Timeless Isle.
• A gift from Chi-Ji — according to the mount journal flavor text, August Phoenixes are blessed by Chi-Ji, the Red Crane to fill the hearts of their riders with hope.
• Available on all characters — once obtained, the mount unlocks in the account-wide collection and can be used on any character of the appropriate level.
• Part of the rarities collection — after the event ended on August 20, 2024, the achievement moved to the unobtainable category. Owners kept the mount forever, while new players cannot get it for now.

The Reins of the August Phoenix could only be obtained during the active phase of the "WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria" event, which ran from May 16 to August 20, 2024. The procedure was as follows:

1. On the character selection screen, create a Timerunner of one of the available races and classes. The start is level 10 on the Timeless Isle.
2. Obtain the Cloak of Infinite Potential — an artifact that empowers the character through Remix threads and gems.
3. Level up to level 20 through Pandaria story quests, raids, scenarios, or dungeons. With the 80% increased Remix experience, this stage is cleared in 30–90 minutes.
4. Once you reach level 20, the Time Trial achievement triggers automatically.
5. You will find the reward in your mailbox — an envelope with the Reins of the August Phoenix item. Use it to add the mount to your collection.

After the event ended on August 20, 2024, all Timerunner characters were converted into regular ones, and the ability to obtain the mount disappeared. Blizzard stated that Remix was conceived as a recurring event in the spirit of Timewalking, but they have not yet announced a return date for the MoP version.

"WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria" was a limited-time event during Dragonflight Season 4, in which players replayed the original Mists of Pandaria expansion on new characters with accelerated leveling and their own progression system.

Every Timerunner gained access to all MoP content — dungeons, scenarios, raids (from Mogu'shan to the Siege of Orgrimmar) — with leveling from 10 to 70. Bronze was collected from enemies, world orbs, and by turning in unneeded gear. It was used to buy exclusive mounts and set colors, while certain mounts, including the Reins of the August Phoenix, were granted strictly for achievements.

The first progression achievement of any Timerunner is Time Trial. It was part of the leveling chain alongside more serious goals.

The achievement was credited automatically the moment you reached level 20. No additional conditions — no raids, no dailies — were required.

As of patch 11.1 (TWW, 2026), the mount is unavailable to new players. If you missed the "WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria" window in 2024, the following return scenarios are possible.

• A MoP Remix rerun — Blizzard explicitly stated that the Remix format is intended as a recurring event in the spirit of Timewalking. There is no exact date for a second launch of the Mists of Pandaria version yet, but this is the most likely path.
• Conversion into a new Remix — future Remix events may include similar baseline achievements for new starter rewards, but the August Phoenix specifically is exclusive to the MoP version.
• Black Market — as of spring 2026, the mount has not appeared at the Black Market Auctioneer and has not been announced. An appearance is possible but unconfirmed.

Until there are official announcements, your only real plan is to follow Blizzard and Wowhead news and quickly create a Timerunner in the first hours of a possible relaunch.

The August Phoenix is the fifth color of the "Pandaren Phoenix" model. The other four colors are available only from the Ancestral Phoenix Egg, which is mailed for the Challenge Master: Silver achievement in Mists of Pandaria Classic.

If you want to assemble the entire phoenix "collection," the classic four colors are still farmed by completing all nine MoP Classic challenge dungeons at silver. The August fifth color is a separate task, tied only to the Remix event.
