Dread Raven

Dread Raven is a flying mount in the form of a sinister black raven with glowing blue eyes. The model is based on the arakkoa dreadwings of Draenor and is considered one of the most stylish "raven" models in the game. The mount first appeared alongside the release of the Warlords of Draenor expansion and was originally included in both the Digital Collector's Edition and the boxed Collector's Edition. Today the Dread Raven still remains in the collections of many players as a symbol of the Draenor era.

A standout feature of the mount is that its appearance adapts to your riding skill and location: in no-fly zones it looks like a ground-bound raven, and where flight is available it spreads its wings and takes to the sky. It is one of the few mounts that automatically changes its animation depending on context.

• A unique arakkoa dreadwing model that is not found among any other ravens in the game.
• A single mount for both ground and sky: the system switches modes on its own, without requiring two separate summons.
• The "Collector's Edition: Dread Raven" achievement — a special mark on your profile that used to identify owners of the Warlords of Draenor Collector's Edition.

• Character level: 10.
• Riding skill: basic (Apprentice Riding); flight requires "Expert Riding".
• Region/faction: the mount is shared between the Alliance and the Horde, and is bound to your Battle.net account.
• Active subscription: required, since the code is activated on a Battle.net account with a linked WoW.
• How to obtain: purchase from the Blizzard Battle.net Shop or from the in-game shop for real money.
• Cost: 25 US dollars (or the equivalent in your currency at the regional price).
• Expansions: no expansion requirements; the mount works on any active WoW Retail account.

1. Log in to your Battle.net account. Open the Blizzard Shop page and make sure the account with an active WoW subscription is selected.
2. Find the mount under World of Warcraft → Products → Mounts. Select "Dread Raven" from the list. Alternatively, log into the game, open the in-game shop (the bag-with-gold icon in the menu) and go to the "Mounts" section.
3. Check the price and region. In recent years the Battle.net Shop has operated with restrictions in some regions: if you have a European account, the price will be shown in euros; if needed, use Battle.net gift cards for the appropriate region.
4. Complete the purchase. After payment the mount is automatically bound to your account and becomes available on all characters level 10 and above.
5. Claim the mount in game. Log in with any character, open the letter from Blizzard in the in-game mail, or open the mount collection directly (Shift+P → "Mounts") — Reins of the Dread Raven will already be there.
6. Summon and test it. Use the mount in a city (ground animation) and in a flight-enabled zone (aerial animation) to confirm that both forms work correctly.
7. Earn the achievement. "Collector's Edition: Dread Raven" will unlock automatically — a special mark with no points, but very prized among collectors.

The Dread Raven is not farmed in the game world — it is a fully shop-based mount, so the classic "optimization" here comes down to financial and account decisions:

• Watch for Blizzard's seasonal sales. Several times a year the shop runs discounts of up to 50% on cosmetic items (usually around the summer sales and during BlizzCon). In early 2026 a price of around 12.5 USD was recorded — it makes sense to wait for such a discount if you are not in a hurry.
• Battle.net gift cards. Buy balance cards in advance during promotions at third-party stores — this gives an effective 5–15% discount with no loss of reliability.
• Buy through the in-game shop. The price is the same, but you will not have to open a browser and re-enter your card details — all funds are taken from your Battle.net balance.
• Compare with collector bundles. Sometimes Blizzard includes the Dread Raven in "Warlords of Draenor Complete" bundles at a discount, where the mount comes together with account upgrades and boosts.
• One purchase = the whole account. Do not buy the mount again on other servers or for other characters — the Battle.net binding spreads it across your entire account in your region.
