Jade Cloud Serpent

Jade Cloud Serpent is a flying mount added in patch 5.0.4 "Mists of Pandaria". The Jade Cloud Serpent is a graceful winged creature of a rich green color with a long, sinuous body, characteristic of all the cloud serpents of Pandaria.

To obtain the mount, you need to reach Exalted reputation with the Order of the Cloud Serpent. After that, you will receive the jade cloud serpent for free as a quest reward, or you can buy it from the faction quartermaster for gold.

• Classic Pandaria look. Cloud serpents are one of the most recognizable symbols of the Mists of Pandaria expansion. The jade variant stands out with its rich green color that echoes the aesthetics of the Jade Forest.
• Free to obtain. If you chose the green serpent egg at the start of the quest chain, the mount is yours for free as a reward for the final quest, Flying with the Clouds.
• Fast reputation grinding. Unlike many factions, reputation with the Order of the Cloud Serpent can be maxed out in one or two days thanks to farming onyx eggs on the Isle of Reckoning.
• Flying mount without restrictions. As of patch 6.0.2, using cloud serpents no longer requires the separate Cloud Serpent Riding skill. Basic riding skill is enough.
• Counts toward achievements. The mount counts toward the total number of mounts for the "Mountain o' Mounts" achievement series.
• Unique animation. Cloud serpents glide smoothly through the air, creating the impression of flying on a mythical eastern dragon. In addition, players have observed that this mount is able to swim underwater, unlike most flying mounts.

• Minimum level: 10
• Riding skill: Apprentice Riding
• Reputation: Exalted with the Order of the Cloud Serpent
• Mount type: flying (ground + air)
• Binding: on acquisition (account-bound)

The Order of the Cloud Serpent is located at the Arboretum on the eastern shore of the Jade Forest in Pandaria. The coordinates of the faction base are 56.6, 44.4. The Arboretum flight point is nearby.

To reach the Arboretum, use the portal to Pandaria from Orgrimmar or Stormwind, then fly to the Jade Forest. If you already have the flight point unlocked, simply use the flight master.

Step 1 — Start the Quest Chain

Head to the Arboretum in the Jade Forest and find Elder Anli. Take the quest "The Wild Things" from her. This quest will send you to the Isle of Reckoning, a small island northeast of the Arboretum.

Step 2 — Complete the Introductory Quests

On the Isle of Reckoning, you will receive several tasks from Instructor Tong:

• "All Aboard" — defeat the hostile creatures on the island.
• "Empty Nests" — collect eggs from the nests.
• "Egg Gathering" — additional egg collecting.

After completing these tasks, you will be offered a choice of color for your future cloud serpent's egg. Choose the green egg to receive the jade cloud serpent for free at the end of the chain.

Step 3 — Do the Daily Quests

After the introductory chain, you will reach Friendly reputation and unlock access to daily quests. Several tasks are available each day:

Hatchling care quests:

• "Catch!" — play with the serpent hatchling.
• "Sweet as Honey" — bring honey for the pet.
• "Uh Oh" — clean up after the hatchling.
• "Treats" — feed the serpent a treat.
• "The Way to a Serpent's Heart" — another feeding task.
• "Serpent Scales" — collect scales.

Quests from Elder Anli:

• "The Dark Huntress", "Big Ka-Una", "Crazy Fun" and others — combat-objective tasks on the Isle of Reckoning.

Each quest grants roughly 450 reputation points. In total, you get about 1,500 reputation points per day.

Profession daily quests: if you have a fishing, cooking, archaeology, or first aid profession with a skill of 525+, additional tasks are available, each granting 125 reputation points.

Step 4 — Farm Onyx Eggs (Speed-Up)

This is the main way to speed up reputation grinding. Onyx eggs are scattered all over the Isle of Reckoning. Each egg is turned in through the repeatable quest "Onyx Is the New Pink" and grants 500 reputation points (1,000 with the commendation).

Where to look for eggs:

• On the peaks of the rocks and cliffs of the Isle of Reckoning.
• Inside the skulls of large creatures.
• At the base of trees and on ledges.
• Coordinates of the main spots: 65.0/26.2, 66.6/28.7, 67.1/24.9, 63.1/29.3, 69.6/31.6, 70.5/29.0.

Important: the eggs do not glow or sparkle — they are small and gray, so they are easy to miss. It is recommended to install an addon for marking spawn points (for example, HandyNotes) or to use the macro /target Onyx Egg.

Step 5 — Buy the Commendation at Revered

When you reach Revered reputation, buy the item Grand Commendation of the Order of the Cloud Serpent from San Redscale. The cost is about 43 gold. This item doubles all reputation points earned with the faction for all characters on your account. Be sure to use it before continuing the farm.

Step 6 — Unlock the Races at Revered

Upon reaching Revered, racing daily quests open up at Instructor Skyfire. This is an additional source of reputation that will speed up the road to Exalted.

Step 7 — Get the Mount at Exalted

After reaching Exalted, complete the quest Flying with the Clouds. If you chose the green egg in Step 2, you will receive the Reins of the Jade Cloud Serpent for free as a quest reward.

If you chose a different egg, buy the mount from San Redscale at the Arboretum for about 2,400 gold (with the Exalted discount).

Farming Onyx Eggs — the Fastest Method

Onyx eggs are the key to accelerated grinding. These eggs have no limit on the number of turn-ins per day. If you have found all the eggs on your server, try the following:

• Server hopping through groups. Join groups from the group finder with players from other servers. When transferred to another server, the eggs will be at different spots, allowing you to gather more in a single session.
• Farming during off-peak hours. Eggs spawn over time, and on low-population servers the competition for them is significantly lower.
• A flying mount is essential. Many eggs are located on the peaks of rocks and cliffs. Without flight, you will not reach most of the spots.

The Optimal Grinding Route

1. Neutral → Friendly → Honored: do the introductory and daily quests while gathering onyx eggs in parallel.
2. Honored → Revered: continue the daily quests + eggs. Upon reaching Revered, buy the commendation immediately.
3. Revered → Exalted: with the commendation, each egg grants 1,000 reputation. Add the racing daily quests. At this stage, grinding goes twice as fast.

Reputation Buffs

Use all available reputation boosters for extra acceleration:

• Banner of Cooperation — grants a bonus to reputation earned.
• Holiday buffs. During WoW anniversary events or the Darkmoon Faire, reputation bonuses may be active.
• Guild contracts and buffs. Check whether any additional boosters are in effect.

Grinding Timeframes

• Daily quests only: about 20 days.
• Daily quests + eggs: 3–7 days depending on server competition.
• Intensive egg farming with the commendation: 1–2 days with a bit of luck.
