Reins of the Silver Riding Talbuk

Reins of the Silver Riding Talbuk is a ground mount for the Horde, added in Burning Crusade (patch 2.0.1). It is a graceful, snow-white talbuk with silver-gray horns, one of the four riding talbuks sold by the quartermaster of the Mag'har in Nagrand. Players prize this mount for its clean, pale model and its nostalgic origin — a relic of old Outland, where orcs considered hunting talbuk a part of their coming-of-age rite.

For the Horde, this mount is sold by Provisioner Nasela in Garadar. The Alliance has a mirror item, Reins of the Silver Riding Talbuk, but it is tied to reputation with the Kurenai and sold in Telaar. This guide covers the Horde version.

In Midnight (2026), the mount is still obtained in exactly the same way — by farming reputation with the Mag'har in Nagrand, Outland. Neither the mechanics nor the price have changed since Burning Crusade.

• Plus the war talbuks — at Exalted, the same Provisioner Nasela also sells the war variants (cobalt, silver, tan, and white war talbuks) for 100 gold each. That's eight mounts in total from one reputation grind.
• Account-wide — once purchased, the mount appears on all of your Horde characters.

Zone access. Nagrand is located in Outland. You can get there through the Dark Portal in the Blasted Lands (Eastern Kingdoms) or via the Outland portal in Orgrimmar near the portal room. At max level in Midnight, the entire zone plays as a farming task with virtually no mob resistance.

Garadar is the Mag'har capital in Nagrand. The nearest flight point is already unlocked for most players from leveling through Outland; if not, fly to Garadar from any Horde point in Nagrand or from Thunderlord Stronghold.

Nasela stands in the southwestern part of Garadar, beneath a reddish canopy next to a cobalt war talbuk. If you are in the Mag'har (Unstoppable Force) and lack the required reputation, trade with her is locked — farm warbeads first.

The baseline starting point is Unfriendly. To move toward Neutral and beyond, complete the Mag'har introductory chain, which begins in Thrallmar (Hellfire Peninsula) and continues in Nagrand. The key intermediate reputation boost is the quest Proving Your Strength from Warden Bullrok in Garadar, which unlocks the repeatable warbead turn-in.

From there, reputation is farmed via two parallel paths: quests and turning in Obsidian Warbeads.

Path 1. Story Quests

Complete all the Mag'har quests in Nagrand and part of the chains in the Nagrand highlands. A full run of the story line takes you up to roughly Revered. You cannot reach Exalted through quests alone — the final stretch is covered by farming.

Path 2. Obsidian Warbeads

This is the main method for the final stretch. Warbeads drop from the ogres of Nagrand: the Boulderfist and Warmaul clans. The approximate drop chance is around 30–35%, meaning roughly one warbead from every three ogres.

1. Head to Warmaul Hill in the northern part of Nagrand — the densest ogre spawn point in the zone.
2. Kill ogres in packs, collecting Obsidian Warbeads. At level 90 in Midnight, ogres die in one or two hits, and the only limit is their respawn rate.
3. Once you have 10 warbeads, return to Garadar and turn in the repeatable quest More Warbeads! from Warden Bullrok. Each turn-in grants 500 Mag'har reputation (525 with a Garrison Rout bonus or similar buffs active).
4. In parallel, each ogre killed grants 10 reputation, so the farm progresses from both sides at once.

Approximate Time Estimate

• From Neutral to Exalted without quests — about 42,000 reputation points.
• One turn-in of 10 warbeads = 500 reputation. That means you need roughly 84 turn-ins = 840 warbeads = around 2,500 ogres killed.
• With quests and the story line, the actual farm drops to 400–500 warbeads and takes 4–6 hours at a moderate pace. At max level with good area damage, you can finish even faster.

1. Create or pick a Horde character with Outland access (having gone through the Dark Portal at any level).
2. Fly to Garadar in Nagrand. Pick up quests from Warden Bullrok and complete the Mag'har story chains.
3. When the quests run out and reputation stalls at Revered, switch to farming ogres on Warmaul Hill and the Northern Spur.
4. Turn in 10 Obsidian Warbeads per run of the repeatable quest. Don't stockpile them in your bags — bring them in right away.
5. Once you reach Exalted, fly to Provisioner Nasela in Garadar.
6. Buy the Reins of the Silver Riding Talbuk for 70 gold. The item binds on pickup.
7. Open your mount collection (Shift+P or the Collections panel) — the mount is already in the list and available to all Horde characters on your account.

Since you've already reached Exalted, don't leave Nasela without the rest of the talbuks — they are sold by the same provisioner.

That's 680 gold for all eight mounts — a trivial sum at level 80, and each one counts toward your achievement tally.

Which Class Is Faster

Any class with strong area damage clears quickly: assassination rogue, fire mage, demon hunter, retribution paladin. The key is not the class itself but the ability to gather a crowd of ogres and hit them all at once. Healers and tanks without damage will have a harder time — take a DPS spec for farming.

Route Through Nagrand

1. Warmaul Hill — the main spot. Two terraces with a dense spawn of Warmaul ogres and Skull Knights.
2. Northern Spur of Nagrand — Boulderfist ogres around the fortress, lower density, but it helps avoid downtime while waiting for respawns.
3. Boulderfist Camp — farther west, the ogres are larger and slightly rarer; you can alternate when mobs run short.

Cycle: one lap of Warmaul Hill (~5 minutes) → a second lap of the Northern Spur → turn in warbeads → repeat.

Multi-Farming on Alts

Reputation is individual to each character, but the warbeads are not bound — you can move them through the guild bank or a shared bank. If you want to build the collection on several characters at once, farm ogres on one and turn in on another. For a single mount this is overkill, but for closing the "100 Mounts" achievement on an alt the method works.

Reputation Bonuses

• War Mode affiliation, account birthday bonuses, and the Darnassus Champion add to the standard percentage.
• At max level, the various buffs stack — enable everything you have before turning in warbeads.
