Remembered Golden Gryphon
Overview

Remembered Golden Gryphon is a flying mount for the Alliance faction, added to World of Warcraft alongside the pre-patch for The War Within expansion (patch 11.0.0). Visually it is a ghostly-golden copy of the classic Stormwind gryphon: a semi-transparent body wrapped in shimmering memory dust that nods to the theme of the "Radiant Echoes" event. The Horde receives a mirror counterpart on purchase — the
Remembered Wind Rider.
The mount was sold by Remembrancer Amuul in the Chamber of the Guardian in Dalaran for 20,000 Residual Memories — the currency of the pre-patch event that ran from July 30 to August 26, 2024. With the event's conclusion the mount was moved into the unavailable category: Blizzard has not said whether it will return in any form.
Why You Want This Mount
- A memento of the TWW pre-patch — the mount permanently records your participation in the "Radiant Echoes" event that preceded the launch of The War Within
- A unique model — the semi-transparent "echo" of the classic gryphon looks unlike any other Alliance model in the collection
- One purchase — two mounts — buying the Remembered Golden Gryphon automatically grants you the Remembered Wind Rider as well, the Horde's faction counterpart
- Full flight speed — the mount gains +310% flight speed at maximum riding skill and supports dynamic flight in modern zones
- Account-bound — once obtained it becomes available to all Alliance and Horde characters on your game account
How to Obtain
Important: the mount is currently unavailable. If the "Radiant Echoes" event does not return, the only way to own it is to have collected it during the window from July 30 to August 26, 2024. The description below is preserved to explain the mechanics and in case the event possibly returns.
- Wait for the active phase of the "Radiant Echoes" event in Dalaran above the Broken Isles
- Familiarize yourself with the three event zones: Searing Gorge, Dustwallow Marsh and Dragonblight. Only one zone is active each week
- Pick up the daily quest from the herald in Dalaran and travel to the active zone through the portal in the Chamber of the Guardian
- Accumulate Residual Memories by killing "memory" mobs, closing event points and defeating the zone boss
- Once you have gathered 20,000 currency, return to Remembrancer Amuul in the Chamber of the Guardian and buy the mount
The Radiant Echoes Event
Radiant Echoes is the pre-patch event for The War Within. In the story, Alleria Windrunner investigates "echoes" of the past breaking through into three classic locations. Rifts in time spawn "memories" of key bosses from past expansions.
| Zone | Continent | Remembered Final Boss |
|---|---|---|
| Dustwallow Marsh | Kalimdor | Onyxia |
| Searing Gorge | Eastern Kingdoms | Ragnaros |
| Dragonblight | Northrend | The Lich King |
The zones rotated weekly: only one was active at a time. All three zones could be reached through special portals in the Chamber of the Guardian in Dalaran above the Broken Isles.
Sources of Residual Memories
The Residual Memories currency was earned in several ways in the active event zone.
| Action | Reward |
|---|---|
| Killing a regular memory mob | 1 unit |
| Killing an elite mob | 5 units |
| Closing a point on the map | 225 units |
| Defeating the zone boss (repeatable) | 1,400 units |
| Zone daily quest | 3,000 units |
The daily quests refreshed one per zone regardless of the active phase:
- Champion of the Waterlords — defeating Ragnaros in Searing Gorge
- Broken Masquerade — defeating Onyxia in Dustwallow Marsh
- Only Darkness — defeating the Lich King in Dragonblight
With a full daily run (three dailies + several closed points + one boss) you could earn around 12,000–14,000 currency per day, which let you buy the mount in roughly one and a half to two weeks of active play.
Farming Optimization (for historical reference)
Action Priority
- Dailies first — the three quests grant 9,000 currency right away for minimal effort
- Then event points — at group points the mobs die in seconds, and each point yields 225 units
- The zone boss when possible — gather a group and kill the boss on every cooldown reset for +1,400 currency
Class and Gear Choice
- Any max-level DPS spec could handle the zone boss in a minute or two
- Healers and tanks benefited from the group dynamic, since all event content was in the open world
- Item level 480 gear from event bosses helped ease into The War Within faster after release
Vendor Purchase Order
If you did not have enough currency for everything at once, many players chose this priority:
- The Remembered Golden Gryphon or Remembered Wind Rider mount — 20,000 currency
- Battle pets and cosmetic trinkets from the event
- Item level 480 gear to level up alts
Current Availability
Since August 26, 2024, the "Radiant Echoes" event has ended, and Remembrancer Amuul no longer offers the mount for purchase. At present the mount is considered limited and not obtainable through normal play.
- Possible return scenarios — Blizzard has made no official promises. Options include: rerunning the event for the TWW anniversary, adding the mount to the Trading Post, or leaving it an exclusive entirely
- Buying from the marketplace — the mount is bound on pickup and is not traded on the auction house
- Transfer between characters — impossible, the "bound on pickup" status remains
- Alternative "echo" mounts — players who missed the pre-patch have access within The War Within itself to other collectible gryphons and wyverns unconnected to the event
Tips
Subscribe to WoW news — Blizzard traditionally announces the return of limited events several weeks in advance. If "Radiant Echoes" returns, you will have time to prepare your characters
Save your Dalaran hearthstones — the
Dalaran Hearthstone was granted through the Legion storyline and remains the fastest way to reach the vendor if the event recurs
Don't discard residual memories — if your character still holds currency from the old event, it remains in your inventory, but there is nowhere to spend it now. In case Remembrancer Amuul returns, it is best to keep it
Get the paired mount right away — since buying one faction version adds the second, you do not need to spend the resource twice. This applies to all paired rewards of the event
Study the related rewards — Remembrancer Amuul also sold battle pets and toys during the active phase, which likewise became unavailable after August 26, 2024
Pay attention to achievements — the achievement collection retains a mark of participation in the pre-patch, which confirms the mount's legitimacy in case of any future Blizzard audits

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
