Remembered Wind Rider

Remembered Wind Rider is a rare flying and ground mount added in patch 11.0.0 of The War Within expansion. It is a recolor of the classic Horde wind rider, rendered in the greenish tones of memory. The mount is purchased from Memory Magus Amuul in Dalaran for 20,000 Residual Memories.

According to the item description: "Hundreds of battles in dozens of campaigns were won on the backs of these revered creatures." The Remembered Wind Rider embodies Azeroth's memory of the legendary wind riders that faithfully served the Horde across countless wars.

• Unique recolor — this is the only version of the wind rider in the memory style, with its characteristic ghostly glow, unavailable from any other source
• Two mounts for one purchase — when you acquire the Remembered Wind Rider, you automatically receive its Alliance counterpart, the Remembered Golden Gryphon. Both mounts will appear in your collection immediately
• Ground and flying — the mount works both on the ground and in the air. Its speed depends on your riding skill
• Available to all characters — after purchase the mount becomes available on all characters of your account
• Collector's value — the mount was only available during a limited-time event, making it especially rare

The Remembered Wind Rider was sold for the currency of the Radiant Echoes event — the pre-patch event of The War Within expansion, which ran from July 31 to August 26, 2024.

1. During the event you had to accumulate 20,000 Residual Memories — the event's special currency
2. Travel to Dalaran above the Broken Isles (the Legion version)
3. Find Memory Magus Amuul in the Chamber of the Guardian
4. Purchase the Remembered Wind Rider and use the item to learn the mount

Important: the Radiant Echoes event ended on August 26, 2024. At this time the mount is no longer available for purchase. Blizzard has not announced a return of this event or alternative ways to obtain the mount.

Memory Magus Amuul is a Lightforged draenei located in Dalaran above the Broken Isles (the Legion version). He is found in the Chamber of the Guardian — Dalaran's central tower.

How to Reach Memory Magus Amuul

1. Travel to Dalaran (Broken Isles). Use your hearthstone if it is set to Dalaran, or a portal from your faction's capital
2. In the center of Dalaran, find the Chamber of the Guardian — a large tower with a teleportation pad at its entrance
3. Stand on the teleportation pad in front of the tower entrance
4. Descend down into the hall of portals — Memory Magus Amuul is located in that area

During the Radiant Echoes event, Residual Memories were earned in several ways.

Daily Quests (the main source)

Three daily quests to kill memory bosses each granted 3,000 Residual Memories — for a total of 9,000 per day. This was the most efficient source of currency.

Event Stages

The event took place in three zones: Smoldering Gorge, Dragonmaw Barrows, and Dustdive Reach. In the first stage, closing points granted 225 Residual Memories, and killing the boss in the final stage granted 1,400.

Mob Farming

Killing rank-and-file memory enemies in the event zones also brought a small amount of currency.

Time Estimate

Purchasing the Remembered Wind Rider required 20,000 Residual Memories. By completing all three daily quests (9,000 per day) and participating in several event stages, the mount could be earned in 2–3 days of active play.

• Faction — the mount can only be purchased by Horde characters. However, the purchase automatically unlocks the Remembered Golden Gryphon for all Alliance characters on your account
• Character level — the minimum level to use the mount is 10
• Riding — ground travel requires the "Apprentice Riding" skill, and flying requires "Expert Riding"
• Account-bound — the mount is bound to your account upon receipt and becomes available to all your characters
