Overview

Renewed Magmammoth

Game iconRenewed Magmammoth is an epic ground mount added in patch 10.0.0 of the Dragonflight expansion. It is a fiery magmammoth restored after being destroyed by the Druids of the Flame and ready to trample any foe in its path. The mount is created by combining 20 Game iconCharred Elemental Remains, which drop from bosses during the Dreamsurge event on the Dragon Isles.

The Renewed Magmammoth is a massive mammoth covered in molten magma with glowing fiery elements. Visually, it stands out from ordinary magmammoths thanks to its intense yellow-orange glow, which makes it noticeable and recognizable among other mounts.

Why You Want This Mount

  • Guaranteed acquisition — the mount does not rely on a random drop. You gather 20 components and craft it yourself. Every boss kill yields 1 to 3 remains, so you always see your progress
  • Fast farm — by actively participating in the Dreamsurge event, the mount can be obtained in a few hours of play. Portals appear every 30 minutes, and you can realistically collect all the required materials in a single session
  • Unique model — the Renewed Magmammoth belongs to the magmammoth family native to the Dragon Isles. Its fiery coloring stands out among the other members of the family
  • Available to all characters — once learned, the mount becomes available on every character of your account
  • No reputation or gold required — unlike many Dragonflight mounts, obtaining the Renewed Magmammoth requires neither faction reputation nor large amounts of gold

How to Obtain

To craft the mount you need to gather 20 Charred Elemental Remains, which drop from the final bosses at the Waking Dream portals during the Dreamsurge event.

  1. Open the map of the Dragon Isles and find the zone affected by the Dreamsurge — it is marked with a teal icon. The active zone changes every week, rotating between the Waking Shores, Ohn'ahran Plains, the Azure Span, and Thaldraszus
  2. Head to the active zone and wait for a Waking Dream portal to appear — the large portals open every 30 minutes and are marked with a flame icon on the zone map
  3. Take part in the group event: destroy the Druids of the Flame, demolish their altars, and fill the progress bar to 100%
  4. Once the bar is filled, a Fire Lieutenant appears — the final boss of the event. Defeat it together with the other players
  5. Collect 1 to 3 Charred Elemental Remains from the boss (drop chance — 100%)
  6. Repeat steps 2–5 until you have accumulated 20 remains
  7. Right-click the Charred Elemental Remains in your inventory to combine 20 of them and create the Renewed Magmammoth
  8. Use the resulting item to learn the mount

The Dreamsurge Event

The Dreamsurge is an open-world event added in patch 10.1.7, "Fury Incarnate." Energies of the Emerald Dream seep into the Dragon Isles, and players battle the Druids of the Flame, who are trying to use this energy for their own ends.

How the Event Works

Each week, one of the four main zones of the Dragon Isles comes under the influence of the Dreamsurge:

  • The Waking Shores
  • Ohn'ahran Plains
  • The Azure Span
  • Thaldraszus

The active zone gains the "Dreamwinds" buff, which increases experience gained by 25%. Every 30 minutes a large Waking Dream portal opens — a group event for several players.

Portal Types

Large Waking Dream portals are the main source of Charred Elemental Remains. They are marked on the zone map with a flame icon. They appear every 30 minutes at a fixed spot. Once the progress bar is filled (by destroying the Druids of the Flame and their altars), a Fire Lieutenant appears.

Small portals are scattered across the zone and are not marked on the map. They contain 4–5 waves of enemies and a rare mob at the end. They can also drop elemental remains, but they are less efficient for farming.

Fire Lieutenants

The final bosses of the large Waking Dream portals can be one of the following NPCs:

  • Allied Ashen Ravager
  • Ashbound Captain
  • Flamewreathed Ascended
  • Molten General
  • Planeborn Destroyer

All of them are guaranteed to drop 1 to 3 Charred Elemental Remains on death.

How to Start Participating in the Dreamsurge

  1. Travel to Valdrakken on the Dragon Isles
  2. Find Archdruid Hamuul Runetotem and pick up the quest "Dreamsurge Investigation"
  3. Open the map of the Dragon Isles and find the zone with the teal Dreamsurge icon
  4. Head to that zone and start taking part in the events at the portals

To participate in the event you need a character at level 60 or higher. The event is available to players of all factions.

Optimizing the Farm

An Efficient Strategy

  1. Use the large portals — they are guaranteed to drop 1–3 remains for each boss kill. At an average of 2 remains, you will need about 10 portals, or roughly 5 hours
  2. Explore the small portals between the large ones — while you wait for the next large portal to appear, fly around the zone and look for small portals. They are not marked on the map, but they give extra remains
  3. Join a group — in the group finder (the I key) look for Dreamsurge groups. Killing the boss together is faster, and every participant receives loot
  4. Hop between servers — after killing the boss on your server, join a group from another server through the group finder. This lets you kill an additional boss within the same 30-minute window

How Long It Takes

With active farming using both large and small portals, gathering 20 remains takes 3 to 7 hours of pure play time. If you are lucky with the drops (3 remains per portal) and actively hop between servers, you can finish it in a single long session.

What to Do While Waiting

Between the appearances of large portals (every 30 minutes) you can:

  • Search the zone for small portals — fly around and survey the area
  • Complete world quests to earn Game iconDreamsurge Coalescence — the event currency, which can be exchanged for gear and cosmetic items
  • Kill regular mobs in the Dreamsurge zone to earn the event currency

Tips

1

The item is bound on pickup — the Charred Elemental Remains cannot be transferred to another character or sold at the auction house. Farm them on the character on which you want to create the mount

2

Watch the map — the large portals are marked with a flame icon on the zone map. As soon as a portal appears, head to it immediately so you can take part from the very beginning

3

Don't skip the small portals — although they are not marked on the map, small portals often appear near roads and zone landmarks. Watch for green effects and clusters of mobs

4

Check the active zone — the Dreamsurge zone changes every week. Before you start farming, open the map of the Dragon Isles and make sure you know the current active zone

5

The event is available even after Dragonflight — the Dreamsurge continues to run on the Dragon Isles even after the release of the Midnight expansion. You can return and collect the mount whenever it is convenient

6

The mount is ground-only — the Renewed Magmammoth does not fly. If you want a flying mount from the magmammoth family, take a look at the other members of the family

7

Combining is automatic — once you have accumulated 20 remains, simply right-click the stack in your inventory. The mount item is created automatically, after which you can use it to learn the mount
