Rhok'shalla, the Shadow's Bane — Transmog Set Guide
Overview

Rhok'shalla, the Shadow's Bane is an epic bow from the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. It is a sleek ranged weapon with a dark bone arc and a thin string, finished in a cold blue-steel palette in the spirit of Icecrown. The model is austere and "sniper-like," without bulky ornaments, so it fits well into restrained hunter looks.
The bow is used by hunters, and in older content also by warriors and rogues for ranged attacks. The appearance is unlocked in your appearance collection upon obtaining the item.
Source
The bow is found in the Argent Crusade Tribute Chest — the reward container of the Trial of the Crusader raid in Icecrown.
- This is the heroic version of the reward: the chest appeared after defeating Anub'arak on the increased difficulty mode.
- The chest's contents depended on the number of attempts remaining: the fewer deaths the group allowed, the more valuable the loot that dropped.
- The item is bound on pickup.
- The bow has a faction "twin": when obtained by a Horde character, the reward turns into an equivalent bow with the same model.
Important note on availability. The tribute chest mechanic was removed with the Cataclysm patch: the chest no longer appears, and this specific item has been unobtainable ever since.
Who it suits visually
- Harmonizes with dark mail sets of the Icecrown era in a blue-steel palette.
- Looks great in "sniper" hunter outfits thanks to its sleek, thin arc.
- Pairs with Wrath of the Lich King raid sets that have no bright decorative elements.
- Contrasts with lush "nature" sets — a debatable but austere choice.
Tips
Before searching, check your appearance collection: if the bow is already accounted for, you don't need to farm it again.
You currently cannot obtain the item through standard means in the modern game — keep this in mind when planning your appearance collection.
If you need the look for an outfit, pick a bow with a similar silhouette from the Wrath of the Lich King era available in current content.
Horde characters get a faction twin with the same model — the appearance of both bows is identical.
Keep an eye on classic content re-releases: the tribute chest mechanic may be available in them.
When farming old raids, take bows on several characters of the needed classes at once so you don't waste runs.
