Overview

Rimebane Rifle

Game iconRimebane Rifle is a ranged firearm added to World of Warcraft in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. The model is a massive double-barreled gun with paired blade-bayonets at the muzzle, finished in a dark-steel palette with icy frost accents in the spirit of the Scourge.

This firearm is available to classes that use ranged guns — first and foremost hunters. As a transmog, the rifle is prized for its grim "undead-industrial" silhouette: rough metal, bayonets, and a frost theme sit perfectly on Icecrown Citadel and death knight themed looks.

Source

The rifle is obtained in the Pit of Saron dungeon — a five-player Wrath of the Lich King dungeon from the Icecrown complex. The source of the appearance is the final boss, Scourgelord Tyrannus.

  • The rifle drops directly from Scourgelord Tyrannus with a chance of around 3.14% per kill.
  • The drop is possible on both Normal and Heroic dungeon difficulties.
  • There are no weekly farming restrictions: you can reset the dungeon as many times in a row as you like.
  • The item is Bind on Pickup, so it cannot be handed to another character — collect the appearance on the character that needs it.
  • Character level 30 is required, but for transmog the item's stats are irrelevant.

The fastest method is to enter the dungeon on Heroic difficulty, run to Scourgelord Tyrannus, and kill him over and over. At max level 90, the entire Pit of Saron is cleared solo in a couple of minutes.

Who It Suits Visually

  • Harmonizes with sets in a dark-steel and icy palette — Scourge and Icecrown Citadel themed looks.
  • Suits the plate and mail sets of death knights thanks to the model's frost accents.
  • Fits "industrial" looks with rough metal and bladed details — for mercenary-hunter concepts.
  • Contrasts with a hunter's light, nature-themed sets — a debatable but striking pairing of cold metal with leather and fur.
  • Works as an accent in undead themes thanks to its frost motifs and the bayonets at the muzzle.

Tips

1

Enter on Heroic difficulty: boss loot is better, and clearing at max level is instant anyway.

2

Run straight to Scourgelord Tyrannus — there's no need to finish off the intermediate bosses just for this appearance.

3

The rifle is Bind on Pickup, so farm it with the character that needs the appearance.

4

A chance of around 3.14% means several dozen runs on average — plan time for a series of attempts.

5

At max level 90 the dungeon can be soloed on any class, which makes farming the rifle fast and group-independent.

6

Between attempts, reset the dungeon through the difficulty menu so the bosses respawn without returning to a city.

7

The weapon is interesting only as a transmog — its stats have long been outdated, so don't waste time on its parameters.

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
