Overview

Рунический клинок Криоманта

Game iconRimebinder's Runeblade is a two-handed sword added to World of Warcraft with the Shadowlands expansion. It is a blue-quality weapon with a massive blade in the icy palette typical of the Shadowlands dungeons: cold blue-steel metal with a frosty glow running along the edge and runic etchings. The model perfectly captures the theme of necromancy and frost around which the location itself is built.

The sword suits warriors, paladins, and death knights — that is, every specialization that wields two-handed swords. It binds when picked up, so it cannot be passed to another character: the appearance unlocks on the hero who loots the item.

In terms of stats this is a long-outdated weapon, and today it is taken solely for its look, for the transmogrification collection.

Source

Rimebinder's Runeblade drops from Nalthor the Rimebinder — the final boss of The Necrotic Wake dungeon. He is a lich who raises the dead in the depths of the location.

  • Difficulty does not matter: the appearance is credited from any mode where the item can drop — Normal, Heroic, Mythic, and Mythic Keystone.
  • The drop is not guaranteed: the sword shares its loot slot with other boss items, so several runs may be required.
  • There is no limit on the number of attempts — the dungeon can be re-run even every single day.
  • Solo farming is comfortable: at max Midnight level, Shadowlands content is cleared solo without any trouble on any class.

The entrance to The Necrotic Wake is located in the Bastion zone, in the Shadowlands. The entry point is in the northwestern part of the location.

The fastest way to get there is through the portal to the Shadowlands from your capital, then on to Oribos and from there — by portal to Bastion.

Who It Suits Visually

  • It harmonizes with cold blue-steel sets themed around ice, undeath, and necromancy.
  • It looks great in death knight ensembles thanks to the frosty glow and the runic elements of the blade.
  • It fits Shadowlands dungeon armor with a similar blue-grey color scheme, pulling together a unified "Shadowlands native" look.
  • It works as a contrast in dark, black-and-purple sets, where the icy blade stands out as a bright detail.

Tips

1

Take Mythic mode without a keystone: it opens through the group finder and clears faster than Normal at max level.

2

Along with the sword, other looks from The Necrotic Wake can be farmed — in a single run there is a chance to close out several collection slots at once.

3

It is most convenient to farm on classes with high mobility and self-healing: a death knight, paladin, or warrior clears the location without pauses.

4

If the sword does not drop from Nalthor the Rimebinder for several runs in a row, that is normal — keep re-entering, there are no attempt limits.

5

Check the appearance collection tab before farming: this model may already be unlocked by you from another item of the same look.

6

Resetting the dungeon for another run can be done through the difficulty menu — this saves time between attempts.

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
