Rocket Shredder 9001 — How to Get the Recruit-A-Friend Mount

Rocket Shredder 9001 is a two-seater mechanical mount styled after a goblin shredder. Added in patch 10.0.7, it is an exclusive reward from the Recruit-A-Friend program. This is the only way to obtain the mount — it cannot be purchased, dropped from a boss, or earned through achievements.

The shredder's main gimmick is that each time you summon it, its arms and shoulder attachments are randomly assigned from a pool of variants. The goblin merchant always brags about the huge selection of attachments but "forgets" to mention that you don't get to choose.

The Recruit-A-Friend program lets you invite new or returning players to World of Warcraft. Rewards are earned for each month of paid subscription from your recruit. Months stack: if you bring six friends who each pay for one month, you receive all rewards at once, including the shredder.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Log into the game on any character
2. Open the Social window (press O)
3. Go to the Recruit-A-Friend tab
4. Generate a personal referral link
5. Send the link to a friend (via email, messenger, or any other method)
6. The friend follows the link, creates or links an account, and subscribes
7. Rewards are granted automatically as paid months accumulate

• A maximum of 10 linked friends total

If none of your friends want to play WoW, you can recruit yourself. This requires a second Battle.net account.

How to Do It

1. Create a new Battle.net account with a different email address
2. Generate a Recruit-A-Friend link on your main account
3. Follow the link in a browser while logged into the second account
4. Subscribe on the second account — you can pay for 6 months at once
5. Wait for all months to be credited to your main account

This method is fully legitimate and does not violate Blizzard's rules. Essentially, you are paying for a subscription on a second account to unlock rewards on your main one. The cost is 6 months of subscription (the exact price depends on your region and chosen plan).

Every time you summon the Rocket Shredder 9001, its arms and shoulder pads are randomly generated from a set of variants. There is no way to lock a favorite combination — this is by design and the subject of numerous jokes.

Two-Seater Transport

The mount holds two players: a pilot and a passenger. The passenger sits behind the pilot. Two-seater mounts are especially valuable for group play — you can transport a friend who lacks flying access in a particular zone.

Riding Adaptation

The mount automatically adjusts to your riding skill:

• Ground mode: +60% or +100% movement speed
• Flight mode: +150%, +280%, or +310% depending on your learned skill
